Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)

Every organism performs cell division throughout the life. Animals, plants and even prokaryotes, such as bacteria, can’t survive without the cell division because cells are the smallest working units of living things. The cell cycle, or cell-division cycle, is the series of events that take place in a cell leading to its division and replication that produces two daughter cells.


The cell cycle is composed of two major stages called interphase and mitosis. Interphase takes the most of the time in the cell cycle; interphase can be divided into G1, S and G2 phase. There is also a phase called G0, which is a stage in which the cells do not divide anymore even if cells need to be repaired. During the G1 phase, the cell grows and performs activities. In the S phase, cells replicates DNA; replicating DNA is very important because if the two daughter cells can’t be inherited the identical DNA from the parent cell, they won’t function out well and eventually die. During the G2 phase, which is the last phase of interphase, the cell keeps growing and prepares for division. The cell checks the DNA for damage and prepares for mitosis by producing the proteins needed during cell division. Then, the cell splits the content and the membrane during mitosis and cytokinesis.
