In general people are considered heroes for the great things they do for others. Adam Brown would be one of these people that is consider a hero. He did many great things including serving our country and he always protected his family and friends. Adam Brown is a hero to many, but if it was not for his parents and wife he would not be the hero he is today. Adam’s parents supported him in everything he did and always tried to get him to be the best person he could be. They loved and cared for him so much that when he was going through his dark stage they sent him to jail. The author states that Larry said, “there’s a warrant for your arrest. ‘I know you know.’ The man stood there shaking his head. ‘Well, I can take you to where we were going.’ ‘Fine hop in my car.’ He directed her to a neighborhood not far away, where she parked in front of a run-down house.” Kelley cared so much she had a drug addict get in her car just so he could show her where Adam might be. Kelley even watched over Adam so much that at a party “Kelley stayed by Adam’s side, making sure he didn’t drink anything besides the champagne toast.” (Blehm 87). Kelley made sure he did not drink anything because “They both knew what that would lead to.” (Blehm 87). Kelley cared so much and was so protective over Adam she would spend a whole night at a wedding just so Adam did not slip up. All of this just shows how much of a hero Kelley was. She was willing to put herself in danger to help Adam, and she was willing to have a miserable night or time somewhere just so she could watch over Adam and protect him. To many people a hero is not just someone who does something amazing for a lot of people but rather someone who sacrifices themselves for someone else. This is definitely the kind of hero Kelley was. She sacrificed a lot for Adam which made her a hero. Despite his shortcoming and reckless early years Adam Brown was an honorable person. He watched out for his family, friends, and country.
