FINAL PAPER. Personality Theory: Analysis of Adolf Hitler Behavior. Personality is a significant aspect of one’s life that cannot be stolen. It drives one’s ways and patterns of interacting with the society around them. From the time of the discovery of psychology, many methods had been used to explain the cause and the development of one’s personality. Through different personality theories that had been illustrated by many psychologists, it had been noted that one’s personality is not a thing that was built in a day. Psychology had made it known that a person’s personality is not something that just come out suddenly, it manifests itself after being bred inside such person. So in this

Freud emphasized that a successful completion of these stages would lead to a healthy personality as one grew up. That was not the case for Adolf Hitler. Most of his five psychosexual stages, especially the Phallic stage was not successfully completed (Philip, Daniel and Krzysztof). Hitler might have gone through Oedipus complex during the phallic stage. He probably developed sexual attraction and desire towards his mother and hatred towards his father. He believed his mother was the only one he could lean on and trust due to his father constant abuse. He developed the desire to destroy his father and never listened to him again. This led to some sort of unconscious competition between Hitler and his father. He was not able to get over the Oedipus complex due to lack of attention from any of his parents. also, he must have been hurt by the submission of his mother to his father. He directed his hatred for his father and his revenge for his abusive past from his father to the Jews and his desires from his mother to Germany (Philip, Daniel and Krzysztof). The Jews served as surrogates of the hatred and jealousy he had for his father. From Hitler’s life and Freud’s theory, one would notice that one’s childhood is very important in life because one’s personality is built on. Also, his sexual life was a memorable one (Jane). Although, he was known for
Adolf Hitler once said, “Demoralize the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, and assassination. This is the war of the future.”(Adolf Hitler Quote). Guided by these words, Hitler continued to annihilate the Jews and anyone that opposed to him or his government. As a child, he was influenced by many and belittled by many more. Hitler’s desire for prestige and dominance turned him into the most powerful and nefarious man in German history.
Funder (2007), states that personality is a combination of how people think, feel and behave, with the psychological mechanisms behind those patterns. Therefore, it can be defined as consistent behaviour patterns and processes which happen in the mind of the individual. These behaviour patterns suggest that there are individual differences and that personality is consistent. The combination of these areas, and confliction of these is what psychologist’s try to understand.
Many of the actions that Hitler enacted are remembered as the horrors of the 20th century. This man is compared to the devil at times for the acts he committed against humanity. I believe that Hitler's Evil adulthood is partially from the influences of his childhood. As a child, Hitler became exposed to anti-semitic political ideas from friends he grew up with. As a kid these ideas were something he latched onto. That was because he wanted to fit in with his friends. It was these political views that he grew so attached to that was the main influence on his early childhood.("United States Holocaust Memorial Museum", 2016)
The word personality is known as quite a diverse concept and can be described differently in accordance to different people, it comes from the word persona which is a Latin term and is referred to as a mask which actors use when performing. Based on this it could be concluded that characteristics which are visible along with external characteristics (the aspects of us in which can be seen by others) is what personality refers to, (Schultz and Scultz, 2004). Another definition of personality by a different psychologist is “The dynamic and organized set of characteristics possessed by a person that uniquely influences his or her cognitions, motivations, and behaviours in various situations.” (Rychman, 1999: 5). There are many areas of personality
Personality and how we behave have been of much interest to psychologists for a long time now and because of this there have been many theories and theorists that have been developed. Personality is defined as consistent behavior patterns and intrapersonal processes originating within and individual (Fritzley, 2012, p. 10). There are six main approaches to personality psychology they include: biological approach, humanistic approach, behaviorist approach, trait approach, psychoanalytic approach and cognitive approach. Each approach shines a little light onto why we behave the way we do and how our personalities are formed, the approaches contain many different theories from

A.N. Wilson’s novel reflects on Adolf Hitler’s life from the very beginning all the way until the end. In the beginning of the book Wilson examined the early life of Adolf Hitler and his original aspirations on what he wanted to be in life. As the book went on, Wilson started to show more and more how Hitler worked his way up the ranks eventually becoming the dictator of Germany. Wilson’s novel also debunks the myths that Hitler described in his own novel “Mein kiemph” of him struggling throughout his life. Hitler lived in comfortable middle class conditions and not the poor life as he described which was only one of his many lies.
Wolfgang was the only son in berlin of observant Jewish parents. Wolfgang's father was trained to be a mechanical engineer, but ran a wholesale kerchief and handkerchief business that he had taken over from his father-in-law. His family lived in an apartment above the business. They enjoyed having vacations at their country home in Neuenhagen, a suburb of berlin.
“Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889, which was on Easter Sunday. Adolf was one of four children but none of the other children lived past two years of age. After Adolf was born, his mom, Klara, had two more kids who did live to be older than two. Adolf’s mom, Klara, had been traumatized by the death of her first three children, causing her to go crazy”. Klara always worried about Adolf dying. Adolf also had two half brothers and sisters from his dad Alois Hitler. Alois Hitler was never a big part of Adolf’s life and he struggled with that. Adolf had a dream of being an artist, but that did not match the government job his dad wanted him to have. People say that Hitler was a mean man because of his dad and his early life. His dad would get drunk and go crazy on his family, this is not a way to grow up, and it certainly impacted Hitler and history. “When his father died Hitler roamed the streets dreaming of his future as an artist. When Hitler was 18, he tried to enter the Academy of Fine Arts, but was rejected twice this caused him a lot of frustration.” When Hitler was 25 he was part of the military and served in World War I, this allowed him to release some of the anger and frustration. “While in the army Hitler was wounded twice, once by gas. This is said to be the reason he went a little crazy. While in the war this is when he started to hate the Jews. Hitler said, while in the war that the Jews were everywhere and he began to hate them more and more as he saw
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20th 1889, in a village in Austria. He was born into a family of a mother named Klara and a father named Alois. Before giving birth to Adolf his parents gave birth to three other children, they all died during infancy. Hitler had two half siblings by his father. Hitler’s home life wasn’t any different from other children. His mother was extremely caring to Adolf. She was always living in fear because of what had happened to her other children. Soon after Hitler started public school his father retired from the civil service. This resulted in a hard life with strict orders and supervision for the household. Hitler’s family lived on a farm and he was expected to go to school and complete farm chores regularly. Hitler’s father was very short tempered and believed that retirement was difficult. Hitler’s half brother ended up running away due to harsh treatment by his father and never returned back home. Soon after Hitler’s family started to move many times, this didn’t have a negative result on Hitler. He was still a very good student. After getting an education for a couple of years Hitler decided that he wanted to grow up and become a priest, he always looked up to the members of the Catholic Church. At the age of nine Hitler was starting to act out. Hitler started smoking cigarettes and didn’t receive any type of punishment for it. Hitler’s faze of becoming a priest soon past. After finding his fathers collection of books about the war between the German’s and French, Hitler became obsessed with the war. After finding out that his half brother passed Hitler was never the same. Hitler’s father forced him into technical school to follow in his footsteps. Hitler was very unhappy and started to get bad grades. In 1903, Hitler’s father passed away. This left Hitler as head of the household
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1989 in Austria. He was the son of a very strict Austrian customs official, and his childhood seems to have been mostly controlled by his father until his death in 1903 (notablebiographies.com) “Adolf Shicklgruber” would have been Hitler’s name if his father hadn’t changed his last name in 1877 (factslides.com). Following his father’s death, Adolf soon became rebellious and began failing his classes in school. As a boy, Hitler wanted to become a priest (viralnova.com). By 1905, he had dropped out of high school and began trying to find his purpose. He spent years in this phase of his life and spent his time reading, painting, wandering through the woods, and dreaming of becoming a famous artist. In
The purpose of this paper is to discuss characteristics of my personality. The main focus of this paper will be how my personality has developed over time. As I age and encounter new and different experiences, my personality has adapted and developed further. This paper will give an in-depth exploration into the people and events that have influenced my personality.
For the past seventy years, Adolf Hitler has been known as one of the most evil men in history. The Fueherer, as he was known, exhumed hatred and violence in his pursuit of power. A vile man, driven by violence and a lust for power, eventually drove himself mad with his own idealistic vision of what a perfect world would be, and how he would achieve
This paper is a comparison of three different viewpoints on the subject of personality. Carl Jung, B.F. Skinner, and Carl Rogers all had very different outlooks on what defined someone’s personality. As an added feature I have included myself as a theorist because my views are also different from the previous mentioned theorists. This paper will also look briefly into the background of each theorist because their views on life began in their childhood. Amazingly you will notice the all had similar backgrounds, but came up with completely different ways of looking at life.
The following will reflect this researchers understanding and reflection on personality, how it defines one, what it means, and if one’s personality changes to fit certain situations. At the end this researcher may have a better insight into herself as well as the personalities of others. This insight can help her in her future endeavors.
