Did you know that abortion is common for around 1 of every 3 women in the United States (Camosy 17)? Abortion became a bigger problem in The United States in 1973 when it was made legal. Roe v. Wade was a case in Texas where a woman named Norma McCorvey wanted to have an abortion. She filed a lawsuit on behalf of herself and every other pregnant woman saying that it is an “invasion of privacy”(Roe v. Wade, The Free Dictionary). In 1973, the Supreme Court had ruled that the Texas law was unlawful. They allowed abortion to be legal, but it was too late because she had already had her child two years beforehand (Roe v. All of these things can happen to you just because you do not want to have a child. Women are ruining their own lives. These women have the option to put their children up for adoption. Some women who are pregnant because of rape want to have abortions because they do not want to live with that thought for nine months. Some young girls that live in bad households will become pregnant and not tell her parents. The father of the child could be her own brother or even her own dad. These girls would be so frightened that they would try to get an illegal abortion, and even try to abort the baby themselves, and suffer major health problems (McBride 43). Young girls would suffer major problems just because they are too scared to tell their parents. Some effects from 2 to 4 weeks after an abortion include cramping, nausea, vomiting, and heavy bleeding. Long-term, abortions can give you infections, damage your cervix, or organs, and even kill you. These women and girls may want to have an abortion, because seeing the child would bring back all those memories and create a terrible experience, but this is not a reason for causing this much damage to yourself. These women still have the opportunity of adoption for their children and giving them a life instead of killing them, but they often choose the wrong path. Their reason for not putting the baby up for adoption is because they don’t want to think about their child being raised by someone else. They would kill their child and cause their bodies damage in the future, rather than let them live. Abortion causes many problems in the future of the mother, physically and mentally. Many women are unaware of these risks and dangers before they make this wrong, unchangeable
