Learner Development: In this standard the teacher will understand that each student learns at their own pace and in their own way. In the standard the teacher will recognize each students strengths and weaknesses. One student can be strong in reading, but lack skills in math and another student can lack skills in both reading and math. It is the teacher’s job to understand this pattern and to implement a developmentally appropriate lesson plan that helps other students learn. It is the teacher’s job to challenge their thoughts, but also helps both students be successful in their learning without exceeding their level of skill.

Introducing collaborative learning will help students develop skills in social interaction, classroom engagement, and self-motivation. They need to learn these skills at a young age so they can interact with other children and create relationships with their peers. These plans are created to support each student in meeting rigorous skills and goals. The teacher will help students meet their goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum present, cross disciplinary skills, and community context. This is an important standard for teachers to follow because students are expected to meet newer and higher standards nowadays and it is the teacher’s job to teach them in an effective way so they can master all the material. The teacher needs to be prepared to teach the material in different ways so the student can me the most successful.
Instructional Strategies: The teacher understands that there is more than one strategy to teach the student’s. The teach uses a variety of instructional strategies to teach a lesson so the student’s are encouraged to develop deep understanding of the content. The goal is to provide different ways of thinking and different ways of connecting content so the student can build their skills and apply their knowledge to the outside world or everyday events. This is important for teachers master because this is a useful tool for students to take with them throughout their academic careers.
Professional Learning and Ethical
The first standard of the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Professional is, teachers understand student learning and development and respect the diversity of the students they teach. To apply this standard into my practice I plan on being able to observe the students I work with and understand how each student learns. To demonstrate that I am adhering to this standard I will find different ways to reward each student for being them and being strong for pushing through their obstacles.
Teaching demands a lot of creativity and being able to adapt to different situations and environments. However, in order to experience lasting success, more than pot luck, charisma and spontaneity are required. Planning is essential. Planning and preparation gives a certain level of confidence. Whether it is a single lesson or a whole course, planning allows you to design the learning journey you wish to take your students on. In designing, you can make sure that you are catering for all your learners’ needs. This includes sufficient differentiation; for SEN needs as well as your gifted and talented students. In planning you can ensure that your lessons have a definite beginning, middle and end and have clear aims and targets. At this stage you will also prepare and plan resources. Also, you must plan your assessments. How will you know when the students have learned what you set out to teach? How will they know? How are you going to prove that learning has taken place at the end of the course? All these points will be addressed in the planning stage of the teacher training cycle.

Mrs .Sikkema said she has foyr high achiever students and two students who are on behavioral plans (Sikkema,2015,personal communication). She also said it is important to document and observe the students so you can understand their needs. I like how Mrs. Sikkema meet the learning needs of all the children in her classroom. In order for me to demonstrate understanding of this standard, I must consider the impact of the family and community on student learning, contribute to the overall development and improvement of the school, and work with other educators to share knowledge and improve practice. My artifact contributes to school initiatives, projects, and organizations teaching me how to teach and reach my ESL students through different strategies. The ESO training was beneficial for me to gain a deeper understanding of how important communication is when teaching others. I learned it is important to my lessons to include group work instead of individual work (and vice versa), evaluate students' performance on a test to decide whether to reteach the concept or move on to a new one. It is very important to collaborate with other teachers sharing fresh ideas and exchanging a variety of strategies to help relief the stress of math problems. Students have their own best way in effectively learning the lesson. With the diversity of students, the problem is each student has a preferred learning style. It becomes undeniably one of the reasons that make it difficult to achieve the best expected outcome out of teachers’ effort. However, teachers try to incorporate various teaching techniques to make every learning opportunity become productive, meaningful, and relevant for the learners.
The following is the outline of the Plan that the student is advised to follow as closely as possible. Each topic will address one or few specific competencies or learning outcomes. Each competency will be graded and assessed using the attached rubric.
I approach collaboration as a team player, and I believe students need more than one person to guide them to their full educational potential. Also, active and prepared participation of weekly PLC meetings with the teachers of my special education students to plan collaborative curriculum have increased results in math and reading substantially. Participating in co-teaching furthers my repertoire of knowledge to assist my students. They are the doctors, teachers, business people, lawyers and many other roles, that will be out in the workforce in the years to come. What they learn in school will impact them immensely; it is the responsibility of a teacher to give students the best education in order to ensure the common good of the future. It is essential for students to not only learn content matter, but also the skills to enable them to participate in a democracy. Due to standardized testing, the emphasis of education has become on score and rankings rather than learning. A standardized test does not look at the whole student, the scores provided are on a very narrow aspect of education. In the classroom, there are countless ways for teachers to assess the student as a whole person not as just a score. Standardized tests scores should not be the sole criteria for determining a student’s academic achievement.

Collaborative learning stems from the theory of Vygotsky’s conception of Zone of proximal development. The thought is that children learn best with “help and guidance” (Ormrod, 2012). In transitioning this zone to a collaborative learning experience, children work with their peers in broadening their learning experience, allowing small groups of students to work together to share knowledge, exchange ideas, problem solve, and more. These classroom environments help to create durable abilities in students and aid in producing a “smoother integration into adult society when the activities resemble real-world tasks” (Ormrod, 2012). As students work with peers and adults, they adopt some of the learning strategies demonstrated and develop more skills in problem solving. This scaffolding creates a trickle-down effect of knowledge construction. In collaborative learning, students are afforded a myriad of enriching opportunities to explore perspectives that may differ from their own. These activities serve to create a self-awareness in the student of their responsibilities to a group, requiring them to self-monitor their activity (Lee, Tsai, Chai, & Koh, 2014).
The content lesson plan was done for Languages, Mathematics and Social Studies whereby meaningful and appealing opportunities for the students to practice, master and learn were arrived at through competent teaching strategies which enabled the students to develop and learn within their academic, linguistic and social contexts to build instructional opportunities that optimized their learning. Further, performance indicators were used to inspire prior knowledge as well as link fresh ideas to the students’ familiar experiences and ideas.
