On the whole, as a Westerner (and usually comparably rich, even as an YBP) you can make all the smart choices about transport. You will never have to take a flight with the airline that has the worst safety record on that continent. You will never have to get into a taxi where the limping car has clearly never been serviced and where the driver smells strongly of whisky. You are traveling for pleasure and can always say no.
But happily, such experiences are few and far between. We may all come from different countries, but on the whole, we all still want to live well and safely. Undoubtedly, life can feel more cheap in some countries than others, but if you plan ahead and choose to take the smart options, you can enjoy hassle-free travel

The main question that comes up in relation to solo travel is the timeless one:
Is it Safe to Travel Alone?
My short answer is “Yes.” Or to be more precise, “Yes, but…”
Traveling alone can be one of the greatest adventures you will ever experience. The article in the previous chapter has outlined a few great reasons why – the new people, the freedom and so on – now we will look a little more closely at how to travel alone… and safety has to be a primary consideration.
For a start let’s look at the facts – the vast majority of travelers experience no crimes or problems whatsoever. You are likely to be one of them and you can increase your chances of a trouble-free trip by following these top 10 safety tips:
1. Be alert in and around tourist attractions. Pickpockets and other petty criminals often hide in crowds, waiting for unsuspecting victims. Stay aware.
2. Always keep an eye on your belongings – even if you pop into the sea for a dip, so make sure your things are safe.
3. Avoid the crime hotspots and never visit downtown areas of large cities alone, especially not after

However, there are some considerations to bear in mind before jetting off abroad.
Here’s a mixture of pros and cons to bear in mind when considering study abroad (here’s a hint though – I believe that the PROS totally outweigh the CONS, naturally!):
PRO – You Can Experience a Foreign Culture
There is nothing like having your own experience of travel to feel like you are really living. It is all very well to admire the plains of South Africa in a film, or to climb Amazonian waterfalls in your imagination when you read a book, but there really is nothing like being there in person. Travel can surprise all your senses, often all at once, and it can be a real thrill to immerse yourself in the customs and culture of other people.
PRO – Learn A New Language
If you have some basic Spanish, why not enhance it with a few months in Barcelona? Or hone your French in Paris, Mauritius or Martinique? There are endless opportunities for improving a language or learning a new one from scratch. Just remember – there is no better way to learn a language well than by chatting to locals every day. You will pick up authentic words, gain fluency and improve your confidence – so dive
I love traveling, and not just because it’s fun, but because it exposes you to another lifestyle outside of the norm. According to nbc news, “ Traveling is very good for your health”. Communication skill would improve while traveling because you are less on your phone so you are more social towards others. Traveling can also inspire different ideas based on what was seen. Traveling can also help you get to know yourself because you are away from the hassle of everyday tasks, and you get to learn new things. Traveling on this trip will give me more knowledge as well.
I like to think of traveling as a new and refreshing start. You don’t know anyone and no one knows you. It’s the perfect scheme to reinvent and fully immerse yourself in an unfamiliar culture. So with every opportunity to get in a car, train, bus, plane, boat, bike, and maybe even your
It is a common idea that traveling gives people a greater insight on the dynamics of the world as they experience different cultures and ways of life. This can be seen in the short story Wedding at the Cross by Ngugi wa Thiong’o where traveling greatly influences the main character Wariuki’s outlook of the world. Wariuki starts off as being a very poor but very happy man until he gets humiliated by his father in law, Douglas Jones, for not being wealthy enough to pay for a wedding at a church or provide for his wife. This ignites a fire in Wariuki to prove his Douglas Jones wrong and he goes to great lengths to accumulate enough wealth to become higher class and not be looked down upon. The great lengths that Wariuki goes through to try and
For some travelling can be a way to escape it all and even find love.
If you go to a new country that has a different language to you, learning a new language can help you communicate with people easily. Besides, you will be accustomed to school’s life quickly.
Travelling is a passion for those who love to encounter new places, enjoy interaction with people of different cultures, like to experience food of various places and love to shop there without any particular reason but it seems to be a compulsion for those who are a bit introvert, feel more uncomfortable if they got stuck up somewhere in traffic, prefer staying at one place instead of travelling new and only travel for some serious or particular
Ever wonder what walking the Great Wall of China would be like? Ever dreamed of feeling the fresh cold air of Canada? What's it like eating baguettes in France next to the Eiffel Tower? Traveling is a popular dream among all of us, and making it a reality is a great learning experiences! I visited Canada in April of 2017, and had a personal emotional attachment to the culture and the whole environment, and the people I traveled with could say the same. Traveling is truly the most exciting part in a person's life because it makes their dreams of meeting different cultures a reality and gives them perspectives of seeing the world differently.
The first thing you want to do is know your surroundings. For example, if you're already in a building that is secure or gated off from the outside. Stay there! There is no point of running outside and trying to get into your
Nor is it advised to travel alone, especially at night, as muggings and robbing incidents are reported almost daily.
The world is huge and mysterious, full of wonders and surprises, and humans are ever inquisitive by nature. The need for human to consistently travel and quench their curiousity through new discoveries had been evident since early civilization. Like those myths and legends of Gulliver's Travels to appease the curiousity of people in the pastof the vast , unknwon Eart, to the real history and conquers of Marco Popl, humans have never find it enough to stop unreveling the wonders of nature and Earth to cease travelling. Especially with the advancement of and improvement of transport technologies. When we needed months, even years, of perilous travels across oceans, now we just need a few luxurious hours on planes to reach our destinations.
Now don’t get me wrong, travelling is a privilege and it is definitely not cheap! But fortunately for all of us, it is one we can all acquire with a little bit of hard work!
While vacation may seem like a week away from home, traveling has so many positive aspects. Whether one travels for a few days, or for a year, it can open the eyes of many people and change their views. While on the road, people often discover who they really are and create relationships with people they will never forget. During this adventure, people learn new languages, and connect with the world in a new way. Traveling is beneficial to both a persons mental and physical health; it makes the mind more creative, and it's a great way to exercise .
The nature of physical journeys are never the same for everyone as they depend on the
Sitting in my room here in Denmark and looking out at the grey clouds and few sunbeams from the sky. It reminds me of the student trip with my class a few weeks ago. To travel from a place to another is somehow always special for me. I think it is interesting that I can go into a plane and some hours later I am a new place. Sometimes the destination is very different from the one I came from. This time it was Dublin who had called me. Actually, not only me but my whole class and belonging teachers. To travel alone or with someone has a lot to say about the trip, I think. If you travelled the exact same place, time and destination but once by yourself and another time with someone, it would almost be to different trips if you ask me. In my eyes that is very beautiful and of significance to remember. In other words, it can give you a wide perspective on travelling, yourself but also life in general.
However, traveling solo allows you to learn more about yourself and what you are capable of. Some people think traveling solo is the boring option but I believe if you are capable of being happy traveling by yourself, you will find happiness forever. Not only will you never have to depend on others to make you content but when you travel solo you also give yourself the chance to pursue what you want, to step out of your comfort zone and meet other people from all sorts of walks of life.
