The advantages and disadvantages of conformity. The New Zealand Oxford dictionary defines conformity as accordance with established practise and agreement suitability. Conformity comes with many advantages and disadvantages. Conformity exists so people don’t feel left out. It also comes with many dangers such as losing your logic and forgetting whether what you’re doing is good or bad. An advantage of conformity is feeling that you’re not alone. You feel accepted and a part of a group where will nobody will judge you. An example of this is Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party. Hitler influenced fellow Germans and Austrian’s that Jews needed to be killed off and did not deserve to live, as well as homo-sexuals, gypsies, anyone mentally or…show more content…
Osama Bin Laden managed to gain an army called ‘Al Qaeda’. Bin Laden lead this group and managed to plot many attacks in the world such as the September 11th attacks on the Twin Towers, 1998 U.S embassy bombings and the 2002 Bali bombings. These attacks were so bad that many people in the ‘Al Qaeda’ army would put there life’s on edge and be involved in these attacks all for the pleasure to please Bin Laden. The same goes with Kim Jong, he along with many North Koreans in the ‘Workers Party of Korea’ are threatening to bomb America and start war against them. This is a disadvantage of society because too many people tag along all because one dictator begins to let the population believe what he thinks is right in his opinion. Another disadvantage of conformity is body image. Magazines and media portray stars as ‘skinny’ and ‘beautiful. This begins to get into younger and older women’s brains that they need to look like this. That they need to buy the latest beauty product in order to look like Jessica Alba or to eat the same diet as Jennifer Anniston does to look as skinny as her. Media often touches up images that are out in the open, commonly airbrushing their skin to make us think it is perfect or reducing their waist and leg size. Many girls believe you need to be skinny and pretty to fit into society and that if you don’t look like girls in the media you aren’t going to be accepted. Too many girls think being ‘model thin’ is
