But money not only brings us the good but the bad as well. This accounts for much of the wickedness in the world. The rich often depend on it to oppress the poor and millionaires sometimes treat their servants with great cruelty. Many young people, being purse proud of their parent’s wealth and richness, neglect their school activities, always play truant and indulge themselves in alcohol, gambling and debaucheries. They often commit suicide after playing ducks and drakes with all their parents’ fortune. Money, in this way, is the root of all evils.

Money— sweeter than honey but oh so destructive. It facilitates a man’s life, while a lack of it imprisons him in the streets of penury. It raises his social status, while an absence of it leaves him unnoticed. It gives him an aura of superiority and importance among others, while a deficiency of it makes him worthless in society’s eyes. Money has been a life objective since they introduced it back in early 5,000 BC. People are so focused in acquiring materialistic things in order for them to feel special or overall happy. In most cases people focus on becoming rich to feel important and start to lose morality. In the play “A Raisin in the Sun” by Lorraine Hansberry, there is a specific character named Walter Lee. In the play Walter is concerned about money and has some morality because he was willing to let his future baby die from abortion, risk his family’s money for selfish needs, and thinks money is life. But deep down inside him he cares for his family more than money.

Author William Hazlitt in his essay “On the Want of Money” describes his feelings on the topic of money. Hazlitt employs stylistic devices to illustrate the deception and illusions that come with having or working for money. He explains that money is sought for by everyone, yet few have it, and the ones who do, usually do not enjoy it because they are worried about losing it. Defining happiness can be just as hard as achieving happiness. Some people find happiness through love, family or money. All three of these ideas can influence happiness, but do any of these have more power or influence of achievement or happiness over the others? Money seems to have the most influence in someone’s pursuit of happiness can suggest that money is the only thing that can make happiness. Money can only make a person happy on the outside, but one must have love and family for a person to truly be happy and money can’t truly buy that.
The beautiful smile. The joyous laugh. The smiling eyes. The high pitched voice. All describe the characteristics of one being happy. Benjamin Franklin once stated “money has never made man happy, nor will it, there is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more of it one has the more one wants.”. In turn that quote has been a center of debates for centuries. Conversing over the debatable topic in which happiness does or does not extend from money. We all have heard the phrase “money can’t buy you happiness.” That phrase is a lie because mostly everything in today’s society revolves around money. The things people like revolve around money too. That person had the money to invest in something that made them happy. Or on an even bigger let’s say someone has been fantasizing about a car and they finally get enough money to purchase their dream car. This person is likely to be very happy. If it was not for the money, they would not have gotten that dream car, so basically the money made them happy. The truth is money makes people happy.

The relationship between money and happiness is like the relationship between food and body. “The importance of money in human life is similar to the importance of food for the body. Just like you can’t live even for a few days without food, you can’t survive for long without money.”(Singh, 2015).Having access to our necessities, being able to participate in leisure activities, and being able to help our friends, are things which make us happy; and we need money for having them. So, for being happy in our life,
