Advantages of Living with Parents While Attending College

Did you know about 60% of the college students live at home with their parents? According to the kark4 news today many college students prefer to stay at home than to stay in a dorm or rent an apartment.(kark4) There are many benefits toward living with family. The disadvantages of living in a dorm or an apartment are their finance problems, the influence of parties, having privacy and roommate problems, being lazy, not setting boundaries and goals, challenges of social life, being in relationships, not making the best choices, challenges of landlords, and the need for a job. I may be 18 in college but by living with her I need to follow her rules. Setting boundaries while in college is very important. Most students have their goals and dream jobs. Living at home helps young adults focus on those goals and boundaries. Some students are not able to work while in college so they cannot afford all of the items they would want. Parents help their children as much as possible with their goals. They make sure they keep up with their children grades and school work to make sure that their child is not lacking. Every parent wants their child to be successful. Setting boundaries of what they can or cannot do is very important while their child is in college. They may know how distracting living on their own can be for their child, so having them stay with them and setting boundaries well benefit them later on in life. Students that are shy or not really sociable may have many problems with living in dorms or apartments. Roommates are required when staying in dorms. Most students go to college where their major will be found. Friends may go their separate ways when in college, so they will not be able to dorm or roommate with their friends. Meeting new people could be a problem for someone who is shy and keeps too themselves. Most students think getting an apartment will fix that problem but it is just as bad as a dorm.
