A persons environment and surroundings can influence their life in a negative or positive way. This is demonstrated in the captivating novel, Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck, as it is exhibited throughly through the two main characters Lennie and George. Throughout the novel, we see as Lennie and George face personal adversities, along with multiple other characters in the book facing adversities of their own. Although the adversities are difficult and strenuous, having a supportive environment helps to turn the adversities into growth. Therefore, the adversities are only temporary, but growth and life skills are permanent. In the novel, we see the relationship between Lennie and George and how it affects them both differently, in a positive and negative way. …show more content…

They are both dependent on one another and have a really intimate connection. An example of their friendship is when Lennie says to George “I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you.” This suggests that George means a lot to Lennie, and that Lennie feels that he has to take just as much care of George, as George does for him. Another example of their friendship is when George says “With us it ain’t like that. We got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us.” This reflects that George truly does care for Lennie, and that he trusts him. Their friendship is tough but we see how much George really does cherish Lennie, and how much Lennie really loves
