The photo that I chose for my print ad is of the Cardinal Pride Marching Band performing at the state competition in Fort Dodge. It was taken by Rebecca Griffin before our performance, and the band looks very stoic in their pre-competition formation. A photographic element used in this picture is symmetry. The band is evenly balanced on each side with the drum major dressed in white dividing the image in the center. I also left some negative space at the top of my ad. This keeps the ad simple, as I want my viewer to focus on the main point of the ad without distractions. I also thought that the viewpoint of this photo was very interesting and will grab the attention of its viewers. The colors that I used for both of my ads were red, black, and white. I used red because red represents passion and energy. The color black was used in the background of the text slides for my commercial, and black is associated with high quality and power. On the text slides in my commercial I used a black background with white font to create a high contrast that made the text pop. For this very reason, I decided to use a very catchy audio backing track from WeVideo’s audio library, which was royalty free. The audio starts with a large crescendo followed by a simple melody that loops throughout the entire track. After either four or eight measures go by, another melody line is added or the beat is changed. This layering of musical lines builds up the intensity and keeps the viewers engaged throughout the whole commercial. Also, during my videos of band students speaking, I turn the volume of the audio backtrack down so the speakers are able to be heard clearly. However, I do not completely mute the sound, because if I did, the viewers would lose the rhythm and beat that they are hooked
At half time the sound of cheering fans is drowned out by the sound of thunderous drums. Knees high, the Falcon Marching Band begins marching down the field. While the band plays on, white flags decorate the field as color guard decorates the field. According to flagline member Ashely Clark, she loves the adrenaline of performing, “It feels like an adrenaline rush to march onto the field because you are so excited about the show. While performing my mind goes blank through and I just do everything on autopilot.”
What seems to be the most attentive layout of the ad is the rock star side of the man in the image. The rock star has long black hair, black makeup around his eyes, no shirt, lipstick kiss prints all over his body, stud necklace and bracelets, as well as a huge fictional guitar with three necks on it. One of the necks is a normal six string guitar, the second is a twelve string guitar, and the most unbelievable of the three is a saxophone. Hanging on one of the necks of the guitar is a girl’s bra. This part of the advertisement is the most important to the value and attraction of the ad. Since the ad is in a pop/rock culture magazine, this would be an obvious attention getter that would stop many of the readers of this magazine.
It was a misty day on the way to contest. What seemed like an average day for the Davis Marching band would turn into a spoopy tragedy. Almost all quiet, upon the band bus that early morning. Not an instrument was tuning, not even Issac was listening to music. (As he usually was) Meanwhile, those in the back laughed and chatted all the way to the Marching contest at ECU, while others kept to themselves with music or low conversations. Then all of a sudden on their ride, the bus was filled with screams of the name “MATT!” in the of a Broken Bow bus; which had the memorable Matt inside. Though all the other Broken Bowians were in confusion, Matt was in utter joy while smiling at Ben.
Of all the things I’ve ever experienced, being in the Blanche Ely Marching Band was the most meaningful. Growing up I couldn’t fathom the value of life’s intangible things, but my perspicacity grew when I made the decision to stay in the band. People see thousands of ads each year. It may seem like the company who designed and create this ad just put whatever looked best and would draw the viewer's attention but the use of word and images on ads go much deeper. For example this ad was found while shopping for shoes online. This ad shows a persons holding a cigarette, this persons hand is shaped as a gun but what the ad wants to readers attention to go to would be not the hand in the front but the shadow in the back, the shadow is a hand but instead of holding a cigarette, the hand is holding a gun. This shadow is meant to represent the reality of what a cigarette can do for a person's health.
First of all, the colors in advertisement evoke emotion and ideation in the customer’s mind. The blue color represents cleanliness. The whole point of paper towel is to clean up messes. Also the color blue has an affect on the mind and body such as it invokes rest and makes people typically feel calm. When a spill happens people tend to get to anger or upset over it, with the blue in the advertisement it shows how the paper towel can reduce spills subconsciously. The green color represents freshness. Once the spill is cleaned people will feel as though their home is fresh and clean. The color green has affects on the body as well it also relaxes the body, calms, and reduces stress. Also
The Evergreen Marching Band and Colorguard (EMBC) has stewed in accomplishment, success, and hard work, for more than two decades. People don’t know, that we 're not just a normal halftime marching band--we are a competitive marching band. Like any football, drill, or soccer team, EMBC strives to compete amongst the greats. For a couple decades, EMBC has marched to success and we don 't want to stop now; however, the competitive program was close to being slashed this year, due to lack of funds. Students and parents raged at the thought of no competitive season. Competing is the best part for everyone in this program. If we lost that it wouldn’t be as much fun. We were so far in debt that if we couldn 't raise enough money, it would 've been game over.
As the holidays approach, joy is in the air, and many celebratory events are occurring throughout Denver, offering joy and cheer to Denver citizens. For Denver Citywide Marching Band (DCMB), the holidays have also provided an opportunity for its members to display their talents, among which were TJ’s seniors Cassidy Cobb, Jabril Jeylani, Khem Shem Toure’, and freshman Julia Moir. TJ’s talented Spartans showed off their skills on December 4th and 5th in Downtown Denver, and greatly contributed to the merry atmosphere.
Advertisements have become a huge part of society in the modernized world of today. Around the world, many people can see all of the various advertisements not only on TVs and newspapers but also on billboards, buses, and walls of buildings. Advertising is an influential part of life and we can easily realize that it has useful purposes for public and private manufacturers and companies throughout the world. Advertisements can either give consumers a great amount of knowledge about the products or just convince them to buy and want the products. Advertisements also help sell the products which keep the economy growing, but people should also be aware of how much they spend because they may not actually need every product that they see that they want to purchase. In the Daisy by Marc Jacobs’s perfume advertisement, the artist uses many different techniques to emphasize the advertisement. Some of the different techniques that the artist uses are color, symbolism, and composition.
You can tell a lot about a school by their marching band. At the beginning of my freshman year, I had the privilege of attending a Wisconsin Badger game at Camp Randall and it was an awesome experience. I have long forgotten the logistics of the game itself, but I still remember the marching band. With their high knees perfectly in step, their tight spins perfectly in time, and their shining silver instruments perfectly in position, the excitement they brought to the crowd was undeniable. I easily envisioned myself playing “On Wisconsin” on the field, hyping up fans with my music. After I learned flutes were not a part of Madison’s traditional style marching band, I decided to pick up playing the trumpet because I knew that one day, if I ever
Marching band was one of the most difficult/challenging activity systems that I have ever done in my life. But at the same time it was an inspirational and motivating aspect of my life. The very first thing it taught me was the definition of hard work. This was because I spent hundreds of hours to my dedication and devotion to band marching around the field in the hot sun every day. Even though there were times when I wanted to quit; one such instance was when we were out performed by another school, other times it was becuase of the teacher being a little too hard on me when I first started. Despite setbacks such as these, I had an ardent attraction to marching band, mainly because in middle school I was a part of concert band, which made me love music. The biggest, reason why I chose to do marching band, aside from my enjoyment of music, was because towards the end of my eighth grade year my middle school band director told us about a huge opportunity that we had coming up to become a part of the high school across the street marching band. They were called the Titan Regiment. She told us the difference between concert and
I spend so much of my time balancing my band and school life, I feel it would be impossible to ignore my legacy within my bands. My legacy would have to include what I’ve spent most of my time in, and what I loved doing. In my case, I’m lucky enough to have both of these be the same thing. I spend about nineteen hours a week working in marching band, and I have loved doing this the whole time. I am currently the senior drum major and if I was to look back at the legacy I have left behind, I would have to include this. Not only has it given me a chance to lead the band I love to be in, it has allowed me to teach and inspire passion within the younger members of my band to continue music.

Most schools offer a variety of activities, classes, and clubs. I personally was never interested in school or anything to do with it. Then I came across band and was instantly hooked. Band has concerts, marching band, and you get to meet new people. Band is my favorite class and here are some reasons why.

Keep the tempo moving!” This can be heard by directors, in most marching band rehearsals, as the band is racing around the field while playing mentally demanding music. Competitive marching band, the highlight of some high schoolers’ fall season, is defined by Merriam-Webster as “a group of musicians who play instruments while marching together at a parade or sports event” (“Marching Band”). In comparison a sport is defined as “a contest or game in which people do certain physical activities according to a specific set of rules and compete against each other” (“Sports”). High school competition band is where a band practices from July to November to prepare one show to be
