The health industry has witnessed this October the merger of two major health insurance firms, which are Aetna and Humana Inc. Humana shareholders approved this October 19 the Aetna acquisition offer of an amount of $37 billion in cash and stock. Aetna would pay around $230 per share, what represents a premium of 23% from the closing stock price of July, when the offer has been made. This deal will allow Aetna to become the largest provider of Medicare plan for the elderly. For the context, Aetna is the third biggest health insurer in the US in term of revenue while Humana is the fourth biggest company.
