In 2001 the Twin Towers were destroyed by two planes and also there were two other planes one was supposed to hit the White House and the other the Pentagon. This started the war in Afghanistan. It’s been eight years since this incident, and the United States and President Obama still want to keep this war going. Next year they are going to send 30,000 troops to Afghanistan and Iraq. There are three reasons why they shouldn’t send them: one for their safety; two Afghanistan should keep their business to themselves; and three it’s going to affect the economy big time. First of all President Obama is going to send 30,000 troops to Afghanistan next year. My first reason on why he shouldn’t is because of their safety, like for example people …show more content…
See this isn’t our problem yet because they are planning but they haven’t done it yet. So the United States military should just get prepared and stop this war. Because is this all necessary to really to keep this war going, it’s been eight years really they should just don’t send the troops. Ok also before the twin towers were destroyed, Afghanistan had more problems with their neighbor they were going to get in a war and that’s when the United States got involved and tried to stop that war from happening. Like they shouldn’t have gotten involved because probably when they destroyed the Twins Towers was because they were nosy and got involved on what was not any of their business. So yea they really shouldn’t gotten into that problem because now we, the United States, are the ones who are suffering from all this. Many would argue that the story of how 9/11 came about goes back, at least, to 1979 when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, with which it shares a border. Afghanistan had experienced several problems since 1973, when the Afghanistan monarchy was overthrown by Daud Khan, who was sympathetic to Soviet overtures. An unsuspected attack reflected struggles within Afghanistan among factions with different ideas about how Afghanistan should be governed and whether it should be communist, and with the problems with the Soviet Union. The Soviets intervened following the overthrow of a pro-communist leader. In late December 1979, after several months
In response to the September 11 attacks, the United States should declare war on the responsible group. As a nation, we should do only the actions that bring about the best consequences, and the best consequences would occur by bringing the responsible group to justice. In this case, killing the Taliban and its supporters is the right action because it produces the greatest amount of good.
As most Americans know, for over 10 years already, we have been in a war with Afghanistan due to the World Trade Center attack on 9/11. The war had a stated goal to dismantle the Taliban and a terrorist organization called “Al-Qaeda,” as well as to end Al-Qaeda’s use of Afghanistan as their base for making facilities such as terrorist training camps and secretive underground bases. The War on Terror began on October 7th, 2001, as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks where nearly 3,000 innocent American citizens lost their lives. Many people do believe that the terrorist attack was a “false flag” operation on America by the Elite who run the country with a goal to run oil pipelines from the Caspian Sea through Afghanistan all the way to
The war in Afghanistan which has become the longest war in American history has also become one of the most expensive war in history behind the war in Iraq, which justifies the idea that the United States is unable to manage their expenses and resources in times of war. The war which has lasted for thirteen years along with two years of soldiers still stationed in Afghanistan has caused America to invest a lot into the war against terror. The cost of the Afghanistan war alone has reached almost 1 trillion dollars and counting. The Money has been used for military defense, medical aid, reconstruction, and post war relief (PBS). All of these expenses are from tax payer’s dollars and money that was borrowed and comes with a hefty amount of interest, 124 billion dollars already paid (CNBC). A total of almost two trillion dollars was borrowed and was approximately 20% of the total United States debt (Global Research). During this war money was not being spent effectively, one example includes 6.5 million dollars on communication towers that were never used. For the reconstruction of Afghanistan approximately 104 billion dollars was used and a billions of dollars lost due to wasteful spending, fraud and corruption (MSNBC). Exact values cannot even be placed on where the money went exactly and how much was really lost because the costs were never detailed by the government and further exemplifies the idea that the United States is unable to manage their spending
There were 2,996 immediate deaths and more than 6,000 injured. It is also believed the other reasons for invading Afghanistan is fighting for the people of Afghanistan human right, we also wanted their oil, and It was believed that they had chemical weapons that they planned to use on us after 9/11. There was also the fact that we wanted to contain the influence of other people committing terror on the united states just because Al Qaeda did. It started us by trying to ask for Osama Bin Laden because he was believe to be the leader of 9/11, but Afghanistan protected him so it gave us more reason to attack. I personally think that we started because of 9/11 because they threatened us and we had to make sure that that didn't happen again because we lost so many lives that day and we were also just mad at the same
For the past 13 years the United States has been involved in the Afghanistan war, and the reasons for the continuation of the Afghanistan war are very blurry. Not only are the reasons for the United States to fight the war blurry, but it seems the the cost vs. benefit of fighting the war do not equal. Only
9/11 was a major factor in the United State’s decision to declare war on several different countries. Not even a month after 9/11 occurred, the United States sent troops to Afghanistan
“Yes, I do agree with the decision to invade Afghanistan, because the people who were directly involved with the attack on the Twin Towers were from Afghanistan.”
Since September 11, 2001, and the United States invaded Afghanistan there has been many questions
“We are not there to do traditional peacekeeping. We are there to combat terrorism and promote human rights.” The image of the twin towers coming down on September 11, 2001 shook the entire world. Since the Suez Crisis of 1956, Canadian soldiers had served as peacekeepers in Cyprus, Somalia, and many other war-torn countries. However, Canada's reputation changed when the Canadian Armed Forces joined the United States' war against Afghanistan. Although many argue that Canada entered the war to only fulfill NATO obligations, Canada's participation in Afghanistan was part of a larger mission; to combat global terrorism and save the oppressed citizens of Afghanistan. Canada's participation in the war in Afghanistan brought Canada world recognition for being more than
On September 11 members of Al-Qaeda hijacked four planes in the United States. Two of which crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on the plane and an additional three thousand, who were either inside the building or emergency workers who rushed to help. A third plane flew into the Pentagon in Washington D.C. The fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers gained control against the terrorist. Bush declared a “war on terror” and accused Afghanistan and Iraq of supporting Al-Qaeda. The United States also tightened their airport security, as well as, their border patrol. I belief that the United States did not respond appropriately. In my paper you will read about, the United States responds, how this affected the people, and my thesis.
The War in Afghanistan has been an all consuming conflict for the US government since we started to launch air strikes on October 7, 2001. This is a conflict that’s been brewing since before the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. This war has the continuation of past conflicts in it, conflicts that can be connected a good deal to the interference of other large powers, such as the USSR. From keeping an eye on the oil reserves, pressuring Iran, and keeping Pakistan stable, our interests and motives for occupying Afghanistan are undeniably laced with many ulterior motives, providing us with the issue of unfavorable opinion and our interests being the source of terrorist attacks. Afghanistan is a country that has been plagued with
Yet, this isn’t always the focus of a majority of discussions. President George W. Bush was quick to take action after the attacks. On October 7, 2001 Bush’s statement declaring the start of the war on terror was published disclosing the U.S military's plan of action. That is, they would destroy camps and disrupt communications of the terror network located in Afghanistan. This would virtually ruin all training and planning of the para-military organization Al-Qaeda. The other aspect of this plan would be to drop food, medicine, and supplies to the suffering men and women of Afghanistan while simultaneously striking military targets linked with Al-Qaeda. The White House also made efforts to link Saddam Hussein of Iraq to the September attacks. At the time, the general public supported the president’s decision as they were still and shock and felt particularly vulnerable. The future would entail of the bombing of Afghanistan and the rebuilding of lower
I think the first thing that America needs to do in order to bring peace to Afghanistan is to stop the spread of the Taliban. Whether or not the war will accomplish this or not is hard for anyone to say right now, but if it does not, something must be done to end the radical Islamic group’s tyranny. This would improve the quality of life for many Afghanis; women would not be forced to wear full-body garments, innocent people would not be beaten in the streets for disobeying the Taliban’s rules, and people would not be publicly executed in gaming fields. Without the Taliban’s presence, the United States would be
The war against Iraq began on March 20, 2002, when the U.S lunched “Operation Iraqi Freedom”. This was after President Bush called Iraq part of an “axis of evil”, also calling the country dangerous which is threatening U.S with the world’s most destructive weapons. The major phase of the war began when U.S troops marched within 50 miles of Baghdad with heavy aerial attacks on Baghdad and other cities. After the attack on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon which was believed to be the work of Al Qaeda, U.S was concerned about the security of the Untied States which lead to the war in Iraq. Even though U.S officials felt the war in Iraq is the main priority, but many people in U.S opposes the war which brings up a lot of controversial issues.
As seen by these studies the people suffering are more so the families of the innocent civilians than those who fought in the conflicts, and a lot of them were not killed by soldiers. As shown by sites like WikiLeaks many civilian deaths are caused by mines or drones. These numbers show the amount of devastation caused by the War on terror and more than ten years later these numbers are still rising. Ultimately there are still over 50,000 troops in Afghanistan and there are still plans to remain there for a while.
