I would like to have the opportunity to attend the Ag-Discovery Program at Kentucky State University because I am very interested in both Veterinarian Medicine and Agriculture. I would like to improve my knowledge and skills which will excel me in college and life. I have gained knowledge and numerous skills through 4H which have helped to shape my future career goals. I love attending conferences where I am able to network with people who share the same interests and common goals as me, gain new knowledge and experiences, and help point me towards the right path where I will benefit the most from.
I have a passion to learn more about Veterinarian Medicine and animal health as well as agriculture. I am currently using the 4-H Veterinarian Curriculum

My ultimate goal is to work with exotic zoo animals, specifically working at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. Once I feel that it is the appropriate time, I would love to have the chance to open up my own mixed practice, focusing on lower prices and free clinics for people who have a hard time paying for the medical care of their animals; as well as work with local farmers and members of 4-H and FFA. I would also love to find time in my busy schedule to donate some of my time to local shelters when working at the Animal Kingdom. As well as once I open my own clinic, to work with the shelters so they have the opportunity to get the medical treatment for their animals at a low charge or no charge at all. As if this wasn’t enough to keep me busy I would like to own a small farm with a garden and a few different types of livestock to help educate the public on 4-H, FFA, livestock, and the agriculture community. One of the ways I plan on achieving the goal of educating the public is by having “A Day at The Farm” where the public can come and meet members of 4-H and FFA and learn firsthand about animals and the opportunities these organizations give to their members. I would also love to have the opportunity to travel to Africa and work with some of the animals on the preservations, and with some of the locals and help their livestock. I have volunteered and lead numerous sessions at different symposiums and conferences. Through the animal community service club I participated in many animal shelter collection drives where we collect items off of the shelter’s wish lists, sort, and then donate the supplies to numerous shelters across South Jersey. I have also competed in Avian Bowl for 4 years and was able to compete at the National 4H Poultry and Egg Conference in Louisville, KY in 2015. Avian Bowl is a double elimination contest where contestants must have a comprehensive knowledge of subject matter for several species of poultry, food safety, physiology, nutrition, eggs, and other subjects.
I plan to achieve my goals by working to the best of my abilities, and to participate in programs that will help me gain the knowledge I need in order to become an excellent veterinarian. I have been doing a lot of research into different program through 4H that will help me on my career path and have been applying to these different programs. I have also been researching colleges that I would like to attend, what programs they have to offer and if they would best fit my personality and career
I raised commercial heifers and steers for several years, some being successful and some not as much. But all those years and activites ago, I never imagined I would be have taken on the challenges and leadership roles I have been audacious enough to face. The National FFA Organization is my most prideful youth-led organization I am apart of. I entered the FFA under the Diboll FFA Chapter my freshman year and am thankful for all of the opportunities and experiences I have received. Every year I have participated in different competitions that have developed my leadership skills and will help me in my future for career and life success. I also am an exhibitor in major and county livestock shows. I grew up raising cattle for the local county fair every year and it has been something I have truly loved to do. I have shown heifers and steers throughout my FFA career leaving with a banner almost every year. After so many years of competing and getting my name out, this is what I am mostly known for in my local show and
What I’m involved in with FFA is showing pigs, heifers, steers, livestock judging, and radio speaking, and volunteering to help out at FFA events being held by Rio Vista FFA. I am currently an FFA officer. I hold the position of the sentinel and will be taking the vice president position next year. I have done extremely well in my three years of showing animals, with my first
She got inspired when she worked for one week at animal control. The first thing to help animals was finding a puppy and advertised him on TradeMe. When she saw poor animals in cages while she was working at animal control for a week she knew she had to make a difference and she did. Every week she volunteers at her local animal branch. Faye has found homes for more than 20 kittens and 60 dogs even though seems small made a huge difference in her town. She posts pictures of dogs that are up for adoption on her facebook page “Animal Re-Home Waikato.” She says, “ We picked up a puppy in the pound the first day I went to animal control and then my last day he was still there and I felt really sorry for him.” This caused her to want to make a difference. She receives around 20 new dogs every week. Most of the dogs need a new home. “I’d love to have a career in animal control. I quite enjoy dealing with people and making a difference” she says. She takes hours of her night organizing time for people to see the animals that she posts while most people sit and do nothing. When Faye is at animal control the animals get a new loving home. She spends every Friday at animal control. Faye does things for animals that make her a true inspiration to people all around the
I have an interest of being at a school where I want to be a vet tech. I would like to learn more about animals than I am now at the career center being in a animal care class. That would make my application complete trying to get into a school with vet tech classes. I would like to learn how to take care of sick animals and how the vet tech does x rays and all kinds of experience that I would like to see because i’m not getting that kind of experience at the medina county career center. Or to be a vet tech assistant because I love working with animals and it’s a type of career field I would really enjoy. I think really looking into the kind of hands on training with learning more about the animals I will really get a kick out of because that
Even though I am only a sophomore in High School, and people's minds change all the time, I’ve been in love with animals since starting elementary school and I’ve also taken French since Kindergarten because I was enrolled in a French Immersion school. Over the years I have volunteered for many organizations that help, and support animals. Some include my local humane society and the K-9 lifesavers organization. I know that Veterinary Schools are extremely selective, however by taking my school work seriously and attending programs like Ag-discovery, I have a greater chance at getting accepted. I have several schools that are in mind such as UC Davis and Colorado State University. After getting accepted into college, to become more social and comfortable, I want to invest my free time in Pre-Vet clubs at my school to get myself acquainted with other students who share my interest. For Grad school, I want to study abroad in Africa and Europe, where I can be apart of the International Vet Medicine programs and aid countries with little resources. Ag-Discovery will definitely be step in that direction and provide me with a window onto those opportunities. When I finish school, I hope to own my own Veterinary Practice by the age of 36. By then I will have all necessary resources and experiences to help and medicate
I am passionate about ensuring animal wellbeing, have a strong aptitude for scientific study (having chosen to study all three sciences; biology, physics and chemistry in high school) and am up to the challenge of dealing with all kinds of creatures, especially farm livestock and horses, companion animals and wildlife in rural and regional communities. The variety of animals I encountered at two local vets and at RDA Australia: a baby brushtail possum, wallaby, red-tailed black cockatoo, lorikeet, rabbit, dogs, cats and horses helped me determine where my interests lie. I am interested in everything from preventative care to psychological analysis and complex surgical procedures with emphasis placed on commitment to farm animal production to address the current shortage of rural veterinarians.
I am currently doing NC Animal Care and i'm loving it. I am particularity interested in Anatomy and Physiology and I love the practical classes. I would adore the opportunity to further myself and dig deeper into how to interact and care for animals. I did 2 weeks of work experience in 2014 at pets at home and i am currently looking into volunteering abroad next summer. I am passionate about my education and about being the best i can be. I want to be qualified so i can work in animal conservation and try to make a really change in the way the public see
Growing up on a family farm in rural South Dakota, I never considered myself different from any other farm kid. At the age of eight, I joined the local 4-H club. Through my ten years of membership, I have participated in many differing project areas from showing beef calves to visual arts and everything in between. Through my many failures, I learned from my mistakes taking numerous best of show awards at county fair and finding success at state fair. 4-H has also given me the opportunity to become more involved in my community through local, county, and statewide community service projects. 4-H sparked my interest in agriculture.
For the duration of my entire life, I had habitually fantasized about what I could become, what all I could accomplish, and most predominantly, how I could enhance the world in my own way. Over the years I have come to terms with the fact a single person can surely not change the entire world. Thus, my goals shifted from changing the world to something I care about deeply and passionately, which is animals. Accordingly, I have decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. With these goals and aspirations in mind, Madison became my top choice to expedite my knowledge and someday allow me to accomplish these dreams. Madison not only has an exceptional and nationally recognized veterinary program, but it holds both a bustling city feel as
I do not have any experience in health care or veterinary medicine. A hobby that I feel like helped me gain skills that could easily transfer over to helping animals would have to be helping out at my local elementary school with the young children. Children and animals are alike in that they make noise when they want something, love attention, and enjoy being praised when they have done something good. They are different in the fact that children can verbalize with words what they want while animals can only make sounds to try and show you what they want. I have personally first hand seen how much joy and happiness animals can bring to society as the local elementary school has had dogs come in and listen to the students read to them causing the students to not feel any pressure or worry. I heard about Black Hawk College’s Veterinary Sciences program through Black Hawk’s website and word of mouth. Just knowing the basics about taking care of animals and children can really help me succeed. By completing this course, I hope to gain a deeper insight into Veterinary Medicine and helping animals thrive as best as I
I enjoy my high school agriculture classes and have a passion for animal science, on the other hand, I also enjoy my job as a pharmacy technician at Brisson Drugs in St. Pauls, North Carolina. Attending Robeson Community College will assist me in figuring things out before I decide the definite career path I wish to pursue. If I attend North Carolina State University, I hope to graduate with undergraduate degrees in agricultural business management and communications. Upon completing my undergraduate studies and internship experiences, I plan to work my way up in the public relations corporate ladder for a major agricultural business. I have a passion for public speaking and writing, to communicate information effectively, whether it is facts or inspiration. Agriculturalists need someone to defend their rights and support their career fields. As I gain more experience in communications, I would be thrilled to lobby for agribusinesses. If I attend Campbell University, I would like to be a part of their pre-pharmacy program. After I have completed my undergraduate studies, I hope to attend the Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. When it is all said and done, I hope to have my doctorate of pharmacy, become licensed, and be employed in an
Is a pumpkin a vegetable or a fruit? What colors do pumpkins come in? These were just a few of the questions asked by Dawn Williams, a member of California Women for Agriculture (CWA) during a presentation to Ms. Katie Phelp’s 3rd grade class.
I’ve always known my path in life, ever since I was a little girl. My mind constantly revolved around one idea; working with animals. Nobody knew better than I that this was my fate, my purpose. I dreamt of being able to work alongside a variety of creatures, no matter the species; I’m not afraid of much. My biggest opportunity came to me in the late spring of 2017. It was like I was given a gift by the gods themselves; I was chosen to volunteer at the zoo.
As long as I can remember, I wanted to do something with animals when I got older. I would dream about helping when they are in need. I have always wanted to be a veterinarian since day one. With growing up, I learned that veterinary students go through a lot to become a veterinary. Writing is very important and it's needed in anybody wants to go into. To be an animal sciences major, a lot of research papers have to be written and as well as persuasive papers.
I love animals and feel I would get satisfaction in this occupation. I can handle unpleasant and physically and emotionally demanding work. I would like to enter the job with a Ph.D.
