Nowadays, many people drink alcohol but not everyone can drink alcohol properly. For example, children has age limitation that they cannot drink alcohol before 18 years old. Also pregnant cannot drink alcohol because alcohol is bad for the baby. Even the adults would be alcoholism when they drink too much alcohol that will cause a car accident and family abuse and so on. Last when the older people drink alcohol, their life was threatened by addicted to alcohol.
I would agree with this perspective, as there are many issues found not only back then, but in today’s societies that originate from the overconsumption of alcohol. It can have a very negative impact on the family of the user, leading to ruined relationships and sometimes ruined
On May 3rd, 1980, Candace Lightner’s daughter died in California because of an irresponsible drunk driver. Clarence William Busch, the guy who killed her received little jail time even though it was his fifth offense in four years. She took a stand because she stood up against drunk driving and helped change drinking laws. MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) have changed the legal drinking age to 21 and the blood alcohol content level to 0.08 percent. MADD helped change the laws by going to former president Ronald Reagan, he decided to signed a law named the Uniform Drinking Age Act. The act forced all states to change their drinking age to 21 within five years.
In the United States of America, there is a minimum drinking age of 21. The legal drinking age legally specifies the youngest age in which a person is allowed to consume and purchase alcoholic beverages. From country to country, there are varying ages of legal drinking ages. There is much debate in the United States on whether the legal drinking age should be lowered to eighteen from twenty one, or should remain the same. People in favor of lowering the drinking age propose that since eighteen is characterized as being an adult (legally and socially), one of the rights that should come along with that is drinking alcohol. Also, that if we were to lower the drinking age, less young adults would be
People acknowledge that the United States should lower the legal drinking age or keep it at twenty-one years of age. The cancellation of the alcohol Prohibition by the 21st Amendment on December 5, 1933. Which allowed the states to make their own alcohol consumption laws. All of the states in the US have set there legal drinking age to twenty-one but there are some exceptions in states for consumption of alcohol at home, under adult supervision, and other reason falling in that category.I feel that the US should keep the drinking age at twenty-one years of age.
Why can’t eighteen year olds drink an alcohol beverage? Ever wonder if they can even handle drinking alcohol these days? What if the eighteen year olds are sent with the parents or someone who is twenty-one or above that age? If they are accompanied by an adult they can handle them and stop them from drinking before they make wrong choices. Once at the age of eighteen they have to sign up for draft or just sign up to immediately join the army or any kind of military position. If they are old enough to fight for the country why not let them have a drink of alcohol. When someone is accompanied by someone who is more mature and responsible usually follows in their footsteps. When at the age of eighteen you can fight choose to go into war for
Does drinking alcohol make you an adult? In the article called,¨Drinking age laws affect teen accident rate¨ on cdc.gov some provinces in Canada were recommended to change the drinking age to 21 due to many teen drunk driving accidents. If only the provinces of Canada would change the official drinking age to 21 then this change can save teen lives from devastating car accidents. This big change can help other countries from around the world decide the official age to drink alcohol.
I belive drinking age should be changed from twenty-one to eighteen. The drinking age was changed from eighteen to twenty-one in 1984 in the United States. Drinking age is eighteen in many countries such as Germany, Mexico, Turkey and almost all European countries. You have to be eighteen to vote, you have to be eighteen to enlist in the military and actually put your life at risk and make life and death decisions but you can not drink? I believe these are the most important examples to follow for why the government should change the drinking age. Also, to legally bind yourself in marriage, commit for a partnership for life at the age of eighteen but can not have an alcoholic beverage? On top of this, driving age in most states is sixteen.
In the United States alcohol is commonly used among the youths in the U.S. It is more used than tobacco and other illicit drugs. It also has a death rate of 4,300 deaths annual with underage youth. There are 29 states in the U.S. that allow drinking underage on a private premises only with the parents consent. The reason why the United States set the age of 21 for drinking age is teenager are not responsible and not trusted for alcohol beverages. Alcohol can effect and even weaken the brain. The use of alcohol will have and effect on the functioning of the brain during the teenage years. In my opinion the higher the age of drinking will save lives here in the U.S. and it reduces underage drinking and that's why it shouldn't be lowered. There
“Everyday in the United States more than 4,750 kids under age 16 have their first drink,” according to study done at John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. That’s a lot of teenagers trying alcohol but wait; I thought the legal drinking age was 21 years old? If there are around 5,000 kids under 16 trying alcohol each day than why do we have a legal drinking age in place if people already are breaking it? I think if the drinking age was younger, less under aged kids wouldn’t be so tempted to start experimenting with drinking in the first place knowing that they didn’t have to wait until they turned 21 years old. Minnesota should lower the drinking age to 18 years old in bars and resturants because it will result in less binge drinking,
“Alcohol is the oldest and most widely used drug in the world” (Albert S. Whiting, M.D). The question is whether alcohol should be allowed for everyone or at a certain age. In 1984, Congress passed the National Minimum Drinking Age Act, which required states to raise their ages for purchase and public possession to twenty one. Twenty one is the established drinking age where the government feels a person is able to handle alcohol. As a result, teenage drinking has become a major issue here in the United States. People under the age of twenty one have been illegally drinking alcohol on a regular basis without even knowing the consequences that come along with it.. Underage drinking is considered people who are under the age of twenty one who
If one is to drink alcohol at a young age, this person is put at greater risk of becoming a full on alcoholic quicker. “Alcohol is the oldest and most widely used drug in the world” (Cima). Once addicted, alcoholics use this alcoholic beverage as a substitute for regular
Alcohol is something that has been part of human nature for thousands of years. It has been used by means of medical, social, religious, and cultural settings (Information about Alcohol, n.d.). Alcohol is going to be a product that will be a part of our lives for many years to come, definitely past our lifetime. A problem that we see today is the use of drinking and driving. This is one of life’s more dangerous and stupid activities, but people still decide to do it. People like to push their abilities to the edge, which could end up causing death to themselves and others. When we watch the news, there always seems to be at least one crash that involved a drunk driver. You have to remember that one incident happened in our city,
The Drinking age debate for young adults have been very controversial since the 1970s to the present days. The Drinking age have been very controversial between the age of 18 and the age of 21. For many years, Most people wanted the drinking age to be 18 because they believe since u are an adult u are mature. On the other hand the other side believes that keeping the legal drinking age at 21 causes less accidents and deaths. They have been many studies on why the drinking age shouldnt be 18. There are many benefits and risks of having the drinking age lowered from 21 to 18.
In the United States alone the drinking patterns throughout history have changed dramatically to reflect the times. Starting out in colonial times the usage of alcohol use was seen as a blessing, and harmless to society. It was acceptable to drink while at work, and during social events, however drinking alone was highly frowned upon. Many early religions believed that alcohol was a gift from God, “man should partake of God’s gift with out wasting or abusing it”#. To enhance and encourage the social
Ideally, alcohol consumption has always been an existent problem. As previously described, a study was used to classify men more likely to have alcohol problems, back in the 20th century, than women did. Drinking is not over, which is clear; however, it is only increasing with time. At the end of the day, I strongly want to convey just how relevant drinking is.
