The Age of Exploration was a period of time from the 15th to 17th centuries where explorers started to explore new lands and territories in order to find new trade routes. Europeans went west to explore and claim the new world for their countries. The renaissance influenced these explorers to find new lands and the reformation also influenced European explorers to spread their religion and try to convert others to Christianity. Some of the most influential and key explores in this time period where Christopher Columbus, Henry Hudson and Hernan Cortes.

Christopher Columbus was the one of the most influential explorers in the Age of Exploration. He was the first European to explore the Americas. Columbus set off on his journey south from Palos Spain with 3 ships. He believed that he would reach the edge of Japan in 10 days if he sailed west to uncharted territory. Instead of being on the water for 10 days, he was on the water for about 30 days and he found the americas. He landed in the bahamas and then claimed it for Spain. Christopher Columbus should be viewed as a villain in history because he killed millions of the native Americans with disease and overworking them. He captured thousands of natives and made them into slaves. He also set in motion the Africans being put in the slavery. Even though he discovered the Americas he murdered many lives. Christopher Columbus be a villain in history because of his horrible actions towards the native people.
