Aileen Wuornos grew up in Rochester, Michigan. She attended elementary and high school, however, she quit in the 9th grade and did not get her diploma.
Aileen was most likely a shy and nervous child who kept to herself in school and did not have many friends. Her interpersonal relationships were minimal at best, as a child she kept to herself due to a volatile home life.
Aileen’s romantic history is that of rape and prostitution. According to Aileen at age 11 she started prostituting for money and other things such as cigarettes and alcohol. When she was 14 she claims that a friend of her grandfathers raped her and she got pregnant and was forced to give her son up for adoption. She married when she was 20 to a 69-year old man, although it didn’t last long. According to her husband Aileen was abusive and often beat him with his own cane. Aileen’s last relationship was with Selby, (Tyra Moore) who she met around 1986 at a gay bar.

She gave the baby up for adoption and then left home to hitchhike across America to work as a prostitute.

Maher Kara joined Citigroup’s healthcare as an investment banker in 2002, and on numerous occasions discussed mergers and acquisitions by Citigroup clients with his older brother Michael after regularly seeking advice from him. For the next three years, this dialogue continued but Maher soon suspected Michael was using the information they discussed for insider trading. While this was happening, Michael became engaged to Bassam Salman’s sister and began to share the inside information he received from his brother with Salman. Salman then approached his own brother-in-law Karim Bayyouk with his plans and traded on the information through Bayyouk’s accounts instead of his own. Bayyouk’s following trades were nearly identical with Citigroup’s
Aileen was born in 1956 to her 16 year old mother. She was not born with any physical or mental disabilities. At the time of her birth her father was incarcerated for child molestation and he was also believed to be a schizophrenic, he hung himself in jail and Aileen never met him. When Aileen was 3 years old her mother abandoned her and her 4 year old brother and left them with her own parents who legally adopted them. The family struggled economically and by age 11 Aileen would engage in sexual activities for food, drugs and alcohol. Home life was not easy for Aileen as she claims to be sexually abused by her alcoholic grandfather and beaten by her grandmother. She would also engage in
In discussion of the case of serial killer Aileen Wuornos, the attachment and life course theories can be applied. Ms. Wuornos was neglected and abused by her guardians multiple times, which led her to a life of criminal activity. She began with small-scale crimes at an early age and eventually escalated to murder. This paper explores how the attachment theory played a major part in the life (and death) of a serial killer and how many lives could have been saved had Aileen’s circumstances been different. This paper also explains how Aileen Wuornos was a career criminal and how that plays a role in her escalation of crimes.

Aileen Wuornos was born on February 29, 1956 in Rochester, Michigan. The young Wuornos experienced a horrifying childhood. Wuornos would later state that she was sexually abused by her grandfather and had sexual relations with her brother. She became pregnant by her early teens, and the infant was given up for adoption. Having previously been a ward of the state, Wuornos traveled from place to place as an adult, hitchhiking and engaging in sex work to survive. She was arrested during the mid-1970s for charges related to assault and disorderly conduct and eventually settled in Florida, where she met wealthy yachtsman Lewis Fell. The two were married in 1976, but divorced shortly thereafter, upon Wuornos being arrested in another altercation.
Oprah Winfrey was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He parents were UN married and separated after conception. Oprah had a difficult childhood, battling through poverty and sexual abuse at an early age.
Upon analysing Aileen’s early beginnings, we can already see many problems. Not only was she exposed to physical violence of her mother at a very young age, but violence, alcoholism and abandonment seem to be primary features within her family. Aileen experienced inconsistent care, as well as emotional, physical and possible sexual abuse at the hands of one of her primary attachment figures (Shipley, 2001). This inconsistent care illustrated by her engagement in prostitution for the first time at as early as eleven (Smith, 2005), along with her trajectory towards crime, with various arrests for robbery, theft, drug possession, car-jacking, abuse etc. all of which were centred on monetary gain (Biological development, 2009).
The following criminal analysis shows why Aileen Wuornos was convicted for the murder of six men and what lead up to these actions. These actions were not in self-defense, but out of cold blood. This profile will analyze the following: what lead up to the murder of these men, what Wuornos’s intents were, the evidence and patterns, her personality and characteristics, and her behavior. These facts and evidence will show Wuornos’s intent and motive, and whether or not she was insane. This woman was not born to be a killer, but something in her life drove her to commit these horrible crimes, and this profile will analyze how exactly she did it and why.

How has media influenced public perception of political figures, issues, and institutions? Through agenda setting and framing, media has the power to set the agenda for political discussion by providing public attention to political figures, issues, and institutions.
