When people ask “why the Air Force Academy?” it is genuinely a difficult question to answer. It forces me to reflect on the reasons why the Air Force Academy is different than any “normal” school I could attend. It seems to me that some students view their time in college not to learn or to grow as a person, but to do the least amount of work possible to get a degree, while having the most amount of fun possible. At the Air Force Academy, not only is this behavior frowned upon, it is virtually nonexistent. Instead, there is a culture of personal growth, high educational standards, and moral conduct.

The United States should not reinstitute the military draft. The draft is unconstitutional and morally unjust. The draft violates a United States citizens simple rights. Not only is the draft unwise and impractical but also undermines a persons freedom.

I would like to ask you for a letter of recommendation for me to put into my application to become a First Sgt. I hope to become a First Sgt because I have a strong desire to work towards something greater than myself, I want to work with and help Airmen become more than they thought they could and to grow as individuals as well as become better citizen Airmen. I have a wide variety of military and civilian experience that I think are beneficial skills to have as a First Sgt.

I have done my best in school. I have always gotten a grade better than a A- in school. In order to achieve this, I do extra credit when it’s given, go in early to class if I do not understand a concept, and get homework done in a orderly manner.

The National Honor Society (NHS) recognizes students who exhibit academic excellence, as well as students who display a variety of honorable traits which include upstanding character, leadership, and a willingness to serve. Being a part of the National Honor Society means that a person encompasses all of these qualities, as many of those characteristics complement each other. A person with upstanding character most likely has a passion for serving and also has the determination to succeed in an honest manner. Without one of these qualities, I wouldn’t be able to ensure that I possess the characteristics that the National Honor Society requires of its members.

The United States of America has not used a draft for their military since 1973 and some people wonder if it should be put back in use. The U.S. citizens are worried that volunteers will not be enough if a bigger war breaks out and that we truly need the draft. The big question with this idea is, it it a good idea to bring back the draft?

I would be a good representative for the National Junior Honor Society. I believe this because of two things. The first reason is that I get exceptional grades. I try my best to maintain my average over 95. I do not fret when I get a bad grade. Instead I think of it as an opportunity to try even more on the next test or quiz and a chance to learn from my mistakes. The other reason is because I enjoy helping others. I like to help my fellow classmates with their homework if they do not understand it.

The characteristics of outstanding scholarship, leadership, character, service and citizen definitely apply to me as an individual. The characteristics of outstanding scholarship apply to me as an individual because I have maintained a 4.0 grade point average for the first two trimesters and will continue to maintain a 4.0 grade point average. The characteristics of excellent citizenship relate to me because I have never gotten suspended, expelled, or a detention and have never had excessive tardiness. Not to mention, I demonstrate participation and involvement in all my classes. I display outstanding character because I show the highest standards of honesty and reliability and I consistently exemplify desirable

Ever since my elementary years, I have taken my education and the work I do seriously. My dedication to the qualities of scholarship, character, leadership, and service have helped me during my high school experience as high school was a eye-opener for a young girl with big dreams. A quote that is to mind when I think about what dedication to scholarship and character means to me is one by St. Jerome; “Good, better, best. Never let it rest. 'Til your good is better and your better is best.” I have always gone past the point that is the best I can do in my academics accomplishments, building my character, being a leader, and helping others. I take pride in the fact that I work hard, push myself, and excel

Thank you for giving me a chance to join the National Honor Society (NHS) to further my current and future learning endeavors. Being nominated due to having a high grade point average opened my mind further into how important it is to follow through with learning through and beyond the school and the benefits those grades can get me, such as joining the NHS. While I am aware that school is about far more than learning for grades alone, I am overjoyed with this chance.

I am greatly honored of having the opportunity of applying to the National Honor Society. To most students, National Honor Society is just an extra tassel on graduation day, but to me, I see it as an introduction to our future. I have been looking forward to joining this prestigious organization since the beginning of freshman year. Throughout this past two scholastic years, I have admired the hard work that the students have done to help the community, and I believe that I can play a part in their hard work in this upcoming year.

One of my goals that I set for high school as a freshman was to be inducted into the National Honor Society, now I have the chance to hopefully fulfill this by getting accepted. I believe that through my high school career so far I have exhibited character most accurately according to NHS standards. I am a student who takes pride in being conscientious of my decisions, whether it be to finish homework when I would much rather watch television or to refrain from activities that have a greater chance of negative consequences than positive ones. Furthermore, I plan to retain these character traits for the rest of my life, especially in my future career. Concerning my future career, I plan to achieve at least a master’s degree in whatever I

I believe that I would be a perfect fit for National Honor Society. Each and every day I exemplify the four National Honor Society pillars, Character, Service, Scholarship, and Leadership. At the very end of eighth grade our graduating class and teachers had an anonymous vote to pick two people with the best character in the class. I won the award which was called the Marty Lebaron award, donated in the name of a young man who passed away from cancer, but his character was so great it can never be forgotten. I have four younger sisters, very often I am helping them with homework, making sure they are fed, and get to sleep on time. I also babysit my neighbors very small children, their parents trust me to keep their children safe, make dinner, and make sure they get to bed. Every two weeks I would go over and mow my grandparents lawn and clean up their lawn. During the winter I would shovel and make sure the garbage cans make it to the curb on time. This summer when they decided to move to Florida, my dad and I helped them move all of their furniture out of their house and onto the rental truck.

I would like to attend a military academy because I would like to be the best that I can be, while at the same time, serving my country. Education at the AFA is comparable to the best universities in the country, including my prospective major, Astronautical Engineering; so, the service academy is an excellent academic choice for me. Additionally, only the best-of-the-best attend these academies, and being surrounded by such great people will be terrific to make new friends and network.
