Within the past century, the development and study of antibiotics and medications have increased tremendously. Drugs such as penicillin helped treat many fallen and injured soldiers in the war. But how did this drug suddenly take rise?
After coming back from vacation, Dr. Alexander Fleming returned to his lab to find a different species of molds than expected on a dish. According to The History of Penicillin by Mary Bellis, Fleming observed the mold in a pure form and soon realized that the substance killed and number of disease killing bacterias.
