Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804). Born 1755 in the British West Indies In 1774, he wrote his first political article defending the Patriots ' cause against the interests of pro-British Loyalists.In 1775, at the beginning of the Revolutionary War Hamilton became part of the New York Provincial Artillery Company and fought in the battles of Long Island, White Plains and Trenton.In the year of 1777, Hamilton became General George Washington 's official assistant. In 1781 George Washington 's granted Hamilton to lead the victorious charge against the British in the Battle of Yorktown.Hamilton also served in the New York State legislature and Congress and was a delegate to the Federal Convention of 1787.
