The Macedonian king, known as Alexander the Great and the son of king Phillip II, was known as a great conqueror and leader to the country of Greece in leading its military conquest to become one of the most powerful countries in the world during its time. There are many ways to say why he is great, while some believe different, such as people outside the country of Greece who felt as if the King was a harsh conqueror who did anything to gain power. From what I have learned about Alexander the Great, he was an extraordinary leader that lead his country, Greece to much greater depths and doing so made him a remarkable leader. With anyone there comes flaws, even a King has them and we figure that out by their actions. When Alexander went to
Who was Alexander the Great? Was he really great? Alexander was he king of the massive empire of Greece. He was the king of Macedonia and was 20 when he got his fathers empire. He expanded his empire from Egypt to India. Sadly died about 10 years after he got the empire. Alexander was great for these reasons, his remarkable achievements, his selflessness, and Tenacious.
Alexander The Great was a powerful military leader and a king. His reign lasted 11 years, during the time of ancient Greece. Within those 11 years he conquered land from Macedonia to the Hindu Kush mountains with an army of 40,000 soldiers. Alexander the Great was great for these reasons, his military strategy, leadership, and his achievement and persistence.
Do you ever wonder if Alexander the great was great? Alexander was great because he’s a military genius and an inspiring leader, and he speared culture. Alexander the great wasn’t always great. He did stuff in little time too.
Alexander the great is a strong leader for taking over 70 cities. He was born in 356 B.C.E in Macedonia. By the age of 20, he took his father throne. His journey took him 8 years and claimed 70 cities. After all his greatness, he died by a fever in 323 B.C.E. How great was Alexander the Great? Alexander was great because he was a military genius and a inspiring leader.
¨The truth is that Alexander is one of the most famous people in history. The problem is that we know about his as a mix of fact and legend.¨Alexander was called Alexander the Great but was he really all that great? Alexander was great because was a great leader and he helped conquer many places. He led his troops across central Asia fighting in battles, but also establishing the Garrison town. He was great because he was a military strategist and he spread greek culture.
Alexander has too much integrity making him seem rude. Document D says, “Alexander was himself steering the trireme (a warship with oars), when a strong gust of wind fell on his broad-brimmed Macedonian hat, and the band that encircled it. The hat, being rather heavy, fell into the water. However, the band was carried along by the wind and was caught by one of the reeds growing near the tomb of one of the ancient kings….One of the sailors swam off towards the band and snatched it from the reed. But he did not carry it in his hands because it would get wet while he was swimming. He therefore put it around his own head and brought it to the king. Most of the biographers of Alexander say that the king gave him a talent* as a reward for his zeal. Then he ordered his head to be cut off because the prophets had explained that....he should not allow the head that had worn the royal head band to be safe.” That isn’t the only person Alexander has killed. This proves that Alexander the Great was not actually great because killing people for silly reasons is not a good
An example that Alexander is not great is that he sold the remaining survivors, some 30,000 into slavery (Green, document C). Although some people have argued that Alexander the Great is coward, Alexander the Great is actually showing concerns for people. An example is that Alexander saw that he can cross the Porus camp because of Porus’s elephant and army so he used Porus elephant to make Porus puzzled while in the time Alexander moved his troop to a different location. This proves that Alexander the Great is courageous because Alexander lead his troop to a different location. Even though Alexander sold the remaining survivors, he didn't want to hurt to hurt the survivors, he even-handed sold the survivors to a different owner. In conclusion, some people still argue that Alexander the Great show lacks of concerns for others, Alexander actually present concerns for
Great or not? Alexander the “Great” was a Macedonian leader who conquered and discovered many cities in just 12 years. But was Alexander really that much of an amazing leader? The answer to that is not at all. He killed thousands, was very narcissistic, and ruined many cultures.
Alexander was great because he leaded his men into a fighting zone but he prepared it to attack his enemy. It is true that Alexander had some bad points. For example “they scooped up with difficulty what they could and hurried back to Alexander then, just before they reached him, they tipped the water into a helmet and gave it to him. Alexander, with a word of thanks for the gift, took the helmet and , in full view of his troops, poured the water on the ground.” (Doc D).
When the Peloponnesian war happened between Athens and Sparta, the Greeks were weakened enough to be taken over by the Macedonians. Philip II thought it was a great idea to take over the Greek city states and fight against the Persians. Once Philip II died, a new Macedonian king was brought to heir. The heirs name was Alexander the Great. There is two different standpoints on Alexander, was he great or was he bad? We should all believe that Alexander does deserve the title Alexander the Great because he has done many good things. The reasons are that Alexander showed mercy to the people he conquered, Alexander left the people's culture alone but tried to spread Greek culture, Alexander was interested in others cultures, and that Alexander
Alexander the great created a long lasting impressing legacy for himself, his warriors, and his great empire. Alexander was born in 356 B.C.E. in Macedonia, just 20 years later he became the King of an empire because of his father's early death (BGE). Alexander conquered many of the world’s greatest empires ever know, and doing so at a very young age! He created one of the strongest most feared empires seen (Docs A & E). So, how great was Alexander the Great? He showed many signs and characteristics of leadership and remarkable achievement throughout his life and his rule in Macedonia. Alexander was great for three big reasons, he created a strong and feared empire, had a long lasting legacy, and he was a smart strategic leader.
Alexander the Great was an extraordinary conqueror; mainly because of his success in battle. He dominated almost every enemy he faced in battle, and usually leave his enemy in his own cities rubble. Even though he conquered and connected many nations together, I do not believe that Alexander was as great as what historians give him credit for. One reason why Alexander is not great is because sometimes he was very relentless. When he was battling the Thebes he did not show much mercy.
Alexander the Great is without doubt one of the greatest military leaders of history. Not only did Alexander of Macedon conquer enormous areas of the known world but also he demonstrated dynamic leadership and masterful strategy on a large scale and tactics on the battlefield. During his life, he ruled the largest empire the world had ever seen, which stretched from ancient Greece to India. The son of King Phillip II of Macedon, Alexander was educated by the philosopher Aristotle and first led Macedonian troops at age 18. Many times Alexander was worshipped as a god in some of the countries he ruled. He had a huge impact on world history spreading the seeds of western culture and philosophy across the world and has legends and stories
Alexander was born around 356 B.C. His mother was of royal lineage, as was his father, Philip II. When Alexander was fourteen, he studied under the Athenian philosopher, Aristotle. Perhaps no culture has ever produced a greater mind than Aristotle’s. So searching and profound was Aristotle’s work that in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries A.D. much of the Christian church regarded his teachings as being divinely inspired. No subject was untouched by his contemplation. Philosophy, botany, geography, zoology, astronomy, and art were all subjects of deep concern for him. Aristotle was the student of Plato and the teacher of Alexander the Great. Either role would have earned him an important place in history. Most likely Aristotle instructed
When kids were young they heard legends from books and their parents even many of told them. Most likely they heard about Alexander the Great the emperor of Macedonia. You might have heard about how great Alexander was but he also did some questionable things for his emperor. When Alexander III was 20 years old, he inherited the empire that also included the kingdom of Macedonia and the city-states of Greece. Right as he took over this empire many things have gone wrong for this empire that he ran. He became selfish, he killed thousands of civilians, and he made his own men struggle as they went on journeys.
