Alexandra Tsiaras came up with a phenomenal way of describing conception to birth in his interview he did for Ted Talk. There were several things and little details that I truthfully did not know happened so fast during a woman’s pregnancy. It amazes me how people can go through with abortion after watching a video like Conception to Birth. Alexandra Tsiara’s visuals on conception to birth show a whole new outline of how fast a baby becomes a human, and that makes it that much more precious.
There were several things that I learned after watching this video. An interesting fact that I learned was that our bodies are made up of collagen, even in our eyes, but it is a different form which is a transparent grit-like structure. The medical definition of collagen states that it is “an insoluble fibrous protein of vertebrates that is the chief constituent of the fibrils of

I learned several things I did not know before this video, for instance the different stages things form in a baby. The first thing that stood out to me was at twenty five days the heart chamber assembles. Another interesting fact about the embryo’s heart is it beats twice as fast as the mothers. However, at thirty two days the embryo grows arms and legs. Additionally, another interesting piece of information was at fifty two days the baby starts developing their retina, nose, and fingers. In all reality the embryo looks like a tiny human at the age of nine weeks inside of the mother’s stomach.
In closing, Alexandra Tsiara had very helpful details that anyone should know about conception to birth. If I knew of anyone that was thinking about getting an abortion, which is terrible to begin with, I would direct them to this video. Maybe after someone watched this video, they would learn to be wise when being together. It is definitely a helpful reality that I needed to know for when I become a mother
I read The Pregnancy Project by Gaby Rodriguez. The book is about how Gaby overcame stereotypes and expectations put on her when she faked her pregnancy for a senior project as a social experiment to see how her peers would react. I enjoyed reading this book because Gaby wrote in such a way that I would find myself thinking of past experiences that could relate with what she was talking about. After I read, “One of the best things a role model can do is show how to get through the tough times and live a good life despite setbacks and hardships, because nobody gets through this life without scars along the way.” (Rodriguez 206), a lot of thoughts came to mind. One of the first thoughts came to my mind was my role model and how even though he went through a lot of tough times he changed his attitude and lives a good life. I also thought about myself and how even though I might me having the worst day I should always be the best that
This article stood out to me because even though I do not believe in abortion, this article opened my eyes to why women do get abortions. I feel like women should get the last say in if she wants an abortion or not because it is their body and even if the man wants to keep the child, it should be the woman's last say. I feel like no matter what the relationship is of the man and women having the child, it is the woman's body and the man just has to deal with her decision because it is not his body. This article talked about family and motherhood because the author says “I’m pro-abortion because I take motherhood seriously (#3)” and I do agree with the author about that because when the child is born, the mother should provide everything she can to keep the child happy and healthy. If the mother can not provide a stable home for her child (whether the father is in the child's life or not), the baby should be born into a family that can take care of it. Then she talks about “I’m pro-abortion because well-timed pregnancies give children a healthier start in life (#2)” and that goes along with providing the child with things/food it needs. That also goes along with if the parents are ready/prepared for the child. If a mother can not provide for her child and the father may not what the child, then I understand why
It takes around nine months for a baby to develop inside a womb; it only takes one quick moment to change a life forever. There are multiple different actions that can hurt a pregnancy; unprotected sex, alcohol and drug abuse, and any heredity induced diseases. In the two scenarios I am working with, two women, Ronnette Jones and Tami Travis experienced drastic changes to their life and their future life. With the help of friends and family, Ronnette and Tami persevered and became the loving mothers they are today.
There is a concern among many, that it is not the woman’s decision to terminate the life of their unborn child. Fetuses are advocated for because decision making is out of their control. One of the main arguments is that the unborn child will not have the opportunity to live the life it deserves and because of that, women that go through the process of abortion will regret their decision. This is understandable, because it is a difficult option to pursue, not health-wise, but emotionally a devastation for some. Along
The moment I see it, I am just flabbergasted. This is the most gestated fetus, the closest thing to a baby I have ever seen," O'Donnell said. "She is like, 'OK, I want to show you something.' She has one of her instruments and she just taps the heart and it starts beating. I am sitting here just looking at this fetus and its heart is beating and I don't know what to think."
When I was only 15 years old, a close friend of mine got pregnant. After spending a few days talking it over with her parents and now ex-boyfriend, she elected to have an abortion. At first I was totally appalled that she had reasoned to kill her newborn child. “How could someone find it so easy to take away another life?” I thought. Now, three years older and more mature me is finally able to process the reasoning behind not keeping the child.
While watching the video, the one thought I had in my mind was, to bear a life is phenomenal. Even before to watch, I was thinking I might attempt the water birth when the time comes. It was also astonishing to learn that through the water birth, the baby has a high possibility of being an ambidexterity. The woman only took around five minutes to give the birth! Nevertheless giving a birth is painless, however, her face was filled with comfortable and happiness. Through the video I realized, with the love and passion toward a baby, the mother can leave behind all the pains from giving a birth. Therefore, my goal is to bear my child with the love in a natural way, under
Abortion is a woman or teen pregnancy and end up making a choice of giving up on the baby, they go to the doctor and they perform a procedure that is going to kill the baby. People don´t realize how bad and horrible it is killing a baby they don´t know the exact representation of it. Meg Meeker a pediatrician had thought that having an abortion was acceptable because the woman can decide what they want for their body, until one day she seen a video of how exactly an abortion happens. She thought it was cruel on how they got rid of it. Obviously the women don´t see because they make them turn away. Meg described that ¨A woman laying down on her back, her face turned away. He talked to the sound of the vacuum used to extract the arms, the legs, and the shredded torso of the tiny child¨. People don´t feel bad because they don´t see exactly how the process is, they don´t know what´s going on or else they would feel bad. Yes 99% of the women don´t regret their
1. Development is a “continuum”; human beings are constantly being shaped by experience throughout the duration of their lives. A tangible example of this development, asserted by a neuroscientist in the video, is our own development after watching the program: “your brain is going to be different from the way it was in the beginning because you’ve learned and remembered something.” Our experiences facilitate all of these connections in our brains and the communication of synapses becomes an illustration of learning. After watching the video, our brains have inevitably changed internally because the information presented to us incited the rewiring of our neural connections.
Watching this video was eye opening for me, this was the first time I have ever hear about this documentary and I wish I had known about this sooner. The video was very interesting and had very good information. The film "The Business of being born" made a lot of sense and it made me wonder if my C-section was even necessary, I had always thought that I was going to have a regular birth and my family expected the same thing. My grandmother had seven kids which include 2 pairs of twins and she had natural births for all their children and she had them in her house with the help of a local midwife, she always talked about how back them having kids was a normal thing and doctors weren't needed. But now most of the births are in hospitals and with the help of a whole medical team. Some of the things that were familiar to me was that women are deciding that having their babies at hospitals is the
At 2 weeks, Melanie’s cells first started the miraculous transformation process of changing into the specialized cells that form all the parts of her body. At magnificent speed, cells begin to migrate forming three layers. Each of the layers are assigned to build something, the top layer are the cells that make skin, hair, teeth, and brain. When the cells in Melanie’s surface
"Childbirth Animation Video"- What was interesting about the process of child birth is how the body prepares itself slowly for the baby to come. Also what is interesting is the fact that even after the baby is born, the birthing process is not over. As, the woman must deliver the placenta if she is giving brith vaginally. She will continue to have mild contractions, till the placenta has come out. I though it was insightful that despite the mother having mild contractions to deliver the placenta, she can hold and bond with the baby.As her bundle of joy, will take her mind of the pain.
First trimester: By 12 weeks of pregnancy the foetus will be fully formed. The ovum grows and develops certain important parts of the baby’s body such as spinal cord, nervous system, gastrointestinal system, heart and lungs in the first four weeks from conception. The heart starts beating and brain and other organs forms by eight weeks. At this stage, the face is formed and arms and legs start to move. The baby grows to 3 inches long and
The clips show how the media portrays birth as a painful and excruciating process, but the news coverage on orgasmic birth demonstrates is can feel the opposite. The film support the claim that women “giving birth lying on their backs, is perhaps the hardest position which to deliver a baby” and it also causes a longer labor”(218). Orgasmic births have women in water and positions where the can move around. In addition, women usually tense up because the fear of pain, but orgasmic births teaches women to relax while in labor by doing breathing exercises. It was shocking for me learn that women can have an orgasm while giving birth. Additionally, that when baby is coming down the birth canal it is going through the same position as something
This is what potentially creates the baby. After 3 weeks of being fertilized, the embryo is less than 1/10 of an inch. The heart of the baby is now beating. At 4 weeks it is about 1/5 of an inch long. It now has a tale that is its back bone that will disappear in a few weeks. Genes are being turned on and cells are able to talk through chemical messages. 18 weeks after being fertilized, the baby is able to be viewed through an ultra sound and in some cases, able to determine the sex of the baby. The embryo is enabled with two sets of gonads and two sets of tubes which is what can make the baby either a male or female. One pair of chromosomes determines which sex that baby will be. After 29 weeks, it is now a fetus and just over an inch long. The fetus heart beats about twice as many times as an adult heart. There is a 50% increase in blood supply for the mother. Now the mother is ready to give birth. Human births are actually more dangerous than any other mammal. The baby preforms many contortions to fit through the mother's opening and if not able to be born through vaginal birth, the mother will undergo a "C" section. After nine months of carrying another human being inside her stomach and going through labor and painful child birth, the mother is blessed with a beautiful child.
