As he was walking around looking at the beautiful nature of Pandora he came across a heard of wild animals unlike he has ever seen before. His first instinct was to kill them, but his partner warned him not to run to stand his ground. After the animals ran away Jake turned around and there it was the beast of the land a tiger. Jake asked his partner what to do and she said, “ run.” After he finally got away night fall came Jake was scared. Animals started attacking him and here to the rescue was the chief of the Na’vi tribes daughter Neytiri. That is when everything changed. Neytiri brought Jake into the tribe and he learned their ways and started to fall in love with Neytiri and everyone else in the tribe. Jake, the film’s protagonist, begins as a “jar head marine” oblivious to his commanders plan to eradicate the Na-vi’s village. Though as the films storyline progresses, Jakes softer side of his personality is introduced. He becomes accepted into the Na’vi and is taught their way of life. It all began in the year of 2154 when a crippled ex-marine named Jake Sully “saved the world”. He takes part in a program invented by scientists which put him on an alien moon called Pandora. Jake is introduced to an Avatar body which is the combination of ½ human body and ½ alien body basically controlled by the scientists who created it. After watching Avatar, for the first time, I realized that this film had different worldviews mixed together. Somewhat confusing to me. I believe there is some Christianity along with Pantheism. Though it was more difficult for me to see the Christianity throughout this movie, Pantheism stood out. What raises questions to me is the Na’vi’s creator, their relationship to each other and a spiritual relationship much higher than them.

The native dominant species called the Na’vi are beings that appear to be primitive to the invading humans that are there to retrieve a mineral called unobtainium. This mineral was found to be an invaluable energy resource to the humans and the humans are willing to do anything to obtain this element. The environment on this planet is toxic to humans and are unable to exist outside of protective environments on this planet. One way that they have found to explore is to inhabit an artificial body of the dominant native species. By doing this, this gives them the opportunity to interact with the natives and to learn their culture. Jake Sully is a paraplegic that is approached by the company that is mining
