Should fictional book stays in schools curriculum? Racism, the one of many problems that cannot and will probably never get solved. All American Boys by Jason reynolds is a fictional book read throughout various high schools that helps children and adults depending on who´s reading views many different social problems in present day. Despite the school board´s recent sentiments regarding the lack of value that fiction provides, fiction remain in the schools curriculum like the fictional book All American Boys, keeping adults and children aware of present day social problems since most fictional books are usually relatable to the problems their audience are going through.

“All American Boys, by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely, is an eye-opening view of a brutal assault by a police officer on an innocent 16-year-old boy as seen through the alternating perspectives of the abused and a teen witness to his beating. It was named a 2016 Coretta Scott King Author Honor Book. ”This adds to the fact that this is one of the many high schools read novels that are a good influence on 12+ readers. On the website goodreads.com a ninth grade teacher named Cindy states that having her students read this book was one of the best decisions she made. This is relevant because this is another point that using this fictional book in a classroom shall continue and only helps with teacher about social problems. To conclude keeping fictional books in the school systems not only helps with learning, but is also an eye opener to different real world
