Their has many movies viewed by movie buff, and the purpose has just been for entertainment and passing time during the dead of the night. The true meaning of a film will never be viewed the same when it is inspired by researching author of the story line to understand why base a movie or movies on the stories that they are, because watching a movie, it is seldom that the viewers look for deeper meaning than; What’s the story line? Who’s the good guy and who’s the bad guy? How good is action and graphics? This will be a new challenge, to critique couple of movies, and research the true meaning of the story, and how it can be viewed differently by society if one take the time to look into the moral standards and the ethical implications that prevalent in almost all movies made by Hollywood and others. His emotions never failed to show through his writings, which helped the story line touch the readers. Poe became very close to several different women but each would die shortly after he came to love them. This only pushed him to write more emotionally. Poe had a natural talent for putting his real life experiences into a fictional story and making it seem as if it were really happening.

The work of Edgar Allen Poe is vast, there seems to be an array of short stories, long stories, and poems. Narrowing down the options of adaptable content was a process within itself. Dispersing the work and assigning duties equally so everyone could be involved was a priority. Lynnette Rheault provided our first location, props, and was the lead in the film. Kasey provided the camera equipment, acted, and directed the scenes for green screen and special effects. Kaitlyn Kerins wrote the script, directed, edited, acted, and scheduled our meetings. I acted, edited, applied the wound makeup, and helped brainstorm the script. We all worked together as best we could and in terms created a film together. In this paper I will talk about the overall process of adapting a work of literature by Edgar Allen Poe. I will bring up the difficulties and successes of working in a group to bring Poe’s poem “Spirits of The Dead” to life in video form.

Grotesque is a subgenre of literature that involves disturbing elements like horror, but also likes to portray sympathy with the characters. However, “The Black Cat” is more grotesque. Firstly, both stories portray love as a central theme; secondly, both portray empathy as a central theme. Edgar Allan Poe has about 51 short stories and about 61 poems written. The Tell-Tale Heart was first published 1843 by Poe and considered to be a piece of gothic literature. This story is narrated by an unknown man who has an illness that makes him almost insane, he is the caretaker of an elderly man who happens to have a false eye with a film covering it. The eye makes our narrator tensed and he believes that it’s always watching him. As the story goes on the narrator of the story eventually kills the old man thinking that death will solve his problems, but it doesn’t. Instead, it bothers him even more. In the early hours of the morning, a couple of policemen show up to the house because a neighbor filed a noise complaint and they were checking to see if everything was okay. He convinced them that everything was fine but they still decided to stay over. The narrator begins to hear the old man’s heart beating and it freaks him out and also making him confess to the officers the crime he had committed.
