One of the activities that I took part in that I feel has shaped me as a person, was basketball. I joined the Sea Point High basketball team in the tenth grade, in South Africa. Now basketball was not very popular in South African high schools, as such we lost our coach in my junior year. The choices that were given to the team was to either end the program or to continue without a coach. As team captain I rallied my teammates and we persevered through without a coach; we showed up for intensive training and competed against other schools. I used to practice every day when practice began, and I also put in effort outside campus on my own time when I could. Dribbling was the first technique that I wanted to better improve. Still hard to acknowledge how bad off I was. Broken ankle, hip,shoulder blade, arm,two punctured lungs and over a dozen broken ribs. My recovery is going slow but steady to me but the DRs say I'm recovering fast all considering.working hard with my physical therapist and looking forward to running and jumping from trees and mountain tops again someday. When someone names tiny guards in the NBA they name Nate Tiny Archibald they name Isaiah Thomas and they name Allen Iverson. Allen Iverson arguably the best tiny guard in the NBA and the best player to never receive a ring. Now things weren’t all great for Mr. Iverson in his life as a child or even in his career, his career had his ups in downs from high school, college, and the pros. But he did have his shine and influence from the way he changed the guard position to changing the NBA style, but first up high school.

I did not know how to tell him about the most depressing failure I have experienced. It all began two years ago, when I first joined the basketball club in my high school. I had always been a great fan of basketball and wished that one day I could become a NBA star. It turned out that I could not do any of the fabulous skills the famous players did; instead I always lost the ball and made mistakes in passing balls. However, I never gave up hope, holding the belief that “numerous practice will make perfect eventually.”

There have been several events that have affected my life. there's times that life will hit you hard that will make you fall over but you will need to get back up and continue what you started. This is how i viewed myself with my ambitious journey of basketball. I was around seven years old when I was bored at home and I turned on the TV and was skipping through the channels and I wanted to see what I was going to be able to watch. I stopped at the sports channel for whatever reason and I remember that it was a Spurs game in the NBA (National Basketball Association). I was in shock seeing people jump all around being able to run from the court coast to coast being chased down by others trying to get the ball through the basket. I saw this particular player at the time on the opposing team Ray Allen from the Boston Celtics. This man had such a dominant presence on the court just getting the ball and being able to shoot the ball in any given time in whatever position he was in either it was going to be contested or open he gets the ball its an automatic scoring machine. This got me very fascinated and i began to start watching basketball since that day. I also wanted to try basketball wanted to play the position Ray allen played a shooting guard, one that is a spot up shooter and is in charge to score from a convertible distance away.

I hope I will be better by next Wednesday, I stupidly fall and broke my both knees, which make me to not being capable to walk.
