The book, Stormbreaker, by Anthony Horowitz is about a boy named Alex, whose uncle had just died in a car crash (or so they say). He finds out that his uncle was really shot by a man named Yassen Gregorovich. Alex’s uncle, Ian Rider, really worked for MI6. He was a spy that was hired by MI6 to figure out the secret behind Herod Sayle and his Stormbreaker computers that he was donating to every school in England. Ian Rider had figured out the secret, but before he could reveal it to MI6, he was shot and killed. Alex’s uncle was the only family he had left, and so it deeply affected him. MI6 decided that they were going to give Alex either the choice of becoming a spy and taking the mission his uncle

Perseverance, Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. The movie of American Sniper was based off of a true story of Chris Kyle. Chris Kyle Joined the Navy Seals leaving his wife and kids to protect his country. Throughout the movie it shows how being faithful and perseverance plays a big role in the world we are living in. Based on the complexity and actions of the characters, imagery, symbolism and the angles the camera took, the movie, “ American Sniper” illuminates and emcopasses a theme of Love and Perseverance.

In the book, Killing Lincoln, author Bill O’Reilly portrayed John Wilkes Booth as an obsessed assassin who recruited various conspirators. He described the events leading to President Lincoln’s murder and the hunt to capture Booth and his cohorts. Killing Lincoln is comprehensible to anyone as young as a middle schooler, although it would be best suited for an older reader with an interest in history and politics. Killing Lincoln could also be appealing to those intrigued by conspiracy plots and criminal motives. O’Reilly constructed an action packed thriller of patriotism and war to keep the reader engaged.

The mystery of how John Wilkes Booth pulled off the most influential and notorious assassinations in history is revealed in Killing Lincoln. The author of this book, Bill O’Reilly, built up the plot of the story through vivid historical details and pieced them together like a thriller. He tries to explain all of what happened on one of the most interesting and sad days in American history. Many conspiracies and Civil War ideals are on full display in the book. I agree with most of O’Reilly’s ideas but there are some that I am not really sure about because of his point of view like many of the conspiracy theories. The movie, The Patriot, is a fictional movie that shows us the battles and life during American Revolution. Some people were forced to fight because their family members died and some did not fight because they did not wanted to risk their family even though both sides are die-hearted patriot. Family could make people do anything. The producers of the movie The Patriot, Dean Devlin, Mark Gordon, and Gary Levinsohn, chose a composite of different colonists, like Francis Marion, Colonel Daniel Morgan, Elijah Clark, Thomas Sumter, and Andrew Pickens, to make Benjamin Martin look better and the hero with no fault what-so-ever.

After Johnson’s declaration of war on poverty, there was significant change regarding the climate of the social, economic, and political in the America of those times. And while Johnson’s countless social programs helped decrease poverty immensely, it also left a huge number drowning in it still. In his expose’, Harrington exposed how 40 to 50 million American citizens were living in poverty, and that to most Americans these people were invisible. A gentleman known as Chris Hedges, wrote: “War is Betrayal.” He explains and portrays logos by using evidence of himself and talking about others because he has had the experience of being involved in a war. War is a conflict between two opposing groups of enemies pitted against one another in a gruesome battle. In reality, it leaves everlasting effects of dismemberment, mental issues and glory promises to the poor and working class which are eventually only forgotten by society. The military guarantees that the poor, working class will become a much better people and feel like they have achieved something inordinate if they go to war and fight for our cherished country. Those that reside in higher classes have never thought about joining the war, they just expect the lower classes to take all responsibility. Those who went to battle, Veterans, suffer immensely when they return because they are burdened physically, emotionally, and mentally as a result of tragic experience they encountered within their time of serving. Also, he uses ethos by using other people’s tragic experiences as well as not using a counterpoint. Hedges elucidates that war is a betrayal towards America because it does not give the people the ability to reside in peace as well as causing those who fought for a prodigious country to live with long-term effects as a result of catastrophic experiences.

Going against what your parents tell you to do is scary, but imagine going against Hitler and his prestigious regime. In the book, The Boy Who Dared, it is 1933 in Germany. Helmuth Huebner is an eight year old german boy who was at first caught up in the hype of the Nazi Regime, but soon realized it is not how it seems to be. In 1938 Helmuth is 13 years old. This is when his viewpoint on the Nazi regime starts to take a turn in the opposite direction. He is scolded by his middle school teacher for disrespecting the Nazi flag. Later that night, he is scolded by his brother-in-law, who is a Nazi officer, for not writing his paper on how great the Nazis are. This makes him realize the Nazi are up to something else other than trying to save the country from inflation and starvation. His life continues to go downhill from this day on. The characters, events, and theme of the story make this a good book for people to understand how unfair life was back then and that history should never be repeated.

In his new book, The Divide, Matt Taibbi takes a look at the inconsistency between a major fall in crime rates and yet an increase in prison population. Taibbi shows, through many examples that poverty rates plummeted during the 2000s. Naturally, if an individual faces more poverty related situations in their lives, he or she is more likely to take part in illegal activities. But Taibbi presents this isn't the case here. Within the last few decades as poverty levels have been going up, violent crime rates have been decreasing continuously. In Chaim Potok’s novel of The Chosen a positive situation develops from one of difficulty. As the reader progresses in this novel, one can distinguish the tone in which the plot develops; ultimately resulting in its characters demise. That is until, the falling action is reached and establishes a solution.
