I enjoyed reading your post. I have worked as a server at the restaurant, and I know that sometimes people who handling the food don't take an allergy super seriously. And you brought up a great point that a restaurant guest who got a severe allergies must be curious about the way his/her food will be cooked or delivered. Because kitchen and waiters usually do their work as fast as they can and cross contamination may happen not only in the kitchen, but, also, on a food tray. What would be the best way to ensure how food being deliver to the table with allergic guest? Should the restaurant manager be involved in this process? I think that it should be waiter's priority to deliver allergic guest meal to the table separate from the group order.
Wasting money is a big problem, yet it is not the only one; wasting the catering associate’s time is another. Catering associates only have about two minutes to spend in a patient’s room. That may seem like plenty of time to get an order and move on to the next patient. However, by the time the caterer describes the menu, diet, and the Always Available Menu, by the time the patients decide what they want, it is time to for the catering associate to move on. There is very little time to search for a menu and describe the process of ordering. Therefore, this leads to confusion for patients.
There is a need to identify the level and type of support an individual requires when eating and drinking. Any support while eating or drinking is to be provided respecting the service user’s human dignity, while the carer is exhibiting warmth and a calm attitude. The care plan informs whether the service user is able to feed him/herself, or needs assistance. Many service users will feed themselves when starting their meal, but will get tired and will then require assistance. The hands of service users with Parkinson’s may have to be gently directed so that they manage eating independently. The carer may need to cut the food for the service user. Service users with chewing difficulties, or swallowing precautions, or a history of choking need to be supervised while eating. Of course, these service users will also get a soft diet. Service users living with dementia may reject food which to them resembles to gruesome things (e.g., they may think meat bits in a dark sauce are cocroaches), therefore person-centered support is important. Service users with learning disabilities may find it hard to estimate distances, so the carer will make sure plates and glasses are well within their reach.
It was a sweltering July day and suddenly I had an incredible pain in my stomach. It felt as if the acidic gases in my stomach were churning up and down, burning the inside of my stomach. My mom frantically dialed 911 and I swiftly arrived at the hospital in an ambulance. Not long after I arrived, the doctor notified me I was having an allergic reaction.
The third issue was the process of the servers running the food. Since they are shorthanded on servers, the scheduled servers help each other out by delivering each other’s food which in turn takes away time away from their own guests.
Maxie Jones has been missing from the General Hospital canvas for months now. Back in February Kirsten Storms decided to take a leave of absence from her role and work out some personal issues. Rumors swirled around her gaunt appearance and lack of presence on social media. Storms was once incredibly interactive with her fans and she seemingly just vanished for weeks. It was speculated that her medical condition may have been affecting her, but no official word has been given about what caused her to leave General Hospital.
If I could host a dinner party and I could invite anyone. I would invite Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Huey P. Newton. Martin Luther King Jr. led the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s and also in the 1960s Malcolm X was a national minister and spokesman of the Nation of Islam and Huey P. Newton led Black Panther Party in 1966 through 1987. I would invite these three men because they led different organizations to gain equal rights for African-Americans in the 1960s. They had different views on getting equal rights. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. believed in peaceful protesting and turning the other cheek but Malcolm X and Huey P. Newton believed by any means necessary that means they will do anything and everything to get equality. I would ask questions about how did they organization’s start and how they overcome all of the naysayers. I would serve roasted chicken and water served as a drink. We would talk about their deaths and did they felt they could have done more before they died. Also, we would talk about the current situations with African-Americans. I feel like we could use different tactics to get the job done. I think they will be upset how blacks are treated by society today. They probably thought after their deaths African Americans will be treated with more
As a dietitian’s assistant, I organized the nutrition and allergy database for over 1,000 food and beverage items served through the University's food service system. My work helped students with food allergies avoid consuming allergy-containing foods and enabled more students to make healthier choices at the campus eateries. In addition, as a cooperative extension practicum student I. My articles were distributed to communities all across the state of Georgia. my WIC clients are positively impacted by my work in ways such as: decreasing rates of overweight and obese children and increasing breastfeeding rates. My practice and experience combined with a responsible and self-reliant nature will allow me to contribute to the dietetic profession to further build the development, expansion and enhancement of community organizations and initiatives. Furthermore, I will be able to contribute by utilizing my research, volunteer and professional dietetic background to effectively communicate in a way that integrates dietetic concepts from all areas of
School bans eggs, dairy and nuts due to one student’s allergies by Emma Waverman, summarizes about the serious consequences that children face when it comes to food allergies. This article mainly focuses on Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School in Hamilton, Ontario about an incident that happened with a seven-year-old girl named Elodie Glover. This young girl has a life-threatening anaphylactic reaction to eggs and dairy, which caused her to leave the school because of the exposure of dairy and eggs. Most schools in Hamilton are having a controversial ban on certain lunch items, which include dairy, nuts, eggs, cheese or fish. These few items are caused to accommodate a student’s severe allergies and may lead to hospitalization. To make these concerns come true the school administrator decided to send home letters to every
Eating out was something I avoided, as I felt I couldn't trust anyone to prepare the food as I would. I was very meticulous when it came to washing everything I ate.
I wanted to follow-up about the topic of lunch coverage from yesterday. I was personally bothered by the thought or suggestion that I would “deny” anyone lunch. I have always been an advocated for people taking a 30 minutes duty free lunch. Also, I believe most of my co-workers would state I am a team player and willing to help anyone. My concern is always patient care 1st, I believe patient care does involve timely documentation and I asked Logan specifically if 12pm would work for her and she replied “yes”. I take any responsibility I am given seriously including lunch coverage and hope in the future we can have better communication. Finally, again it is personally disappointing that anyone would think I would not help someone or fulfill
Why it is important to follow carers instructions in respect of their child’s food allergies or intolerances
Censorship blocks out negative things to keep people in a positive mindset, but too much censorship can take away people’s freedom.
Did you know that food allergies are most common among babies and small young children? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, food allergies are predicted to distress four to six percent of children. Food allergy reactions can range in severity, such as a simple rash to death. Children from birth to five years old have higher rates of food allergies than children over the age of five. Food allergies are not a thought if your child does not have them. However, before you feed someone else child, ask the parent is it ok for them to eat something first.
The growing epidemic of food allergies in the U.S. afflicts over 15 million citizens, and sends a patient to the emergency department every three minutes. Possessing multiple food allergies, I am a member of this dramatic increase in prevalence over the past 2 decades; thus, it is my hope that this country will grow in its education and accommodation for this population. Restaurants in particular are one setting where I have experienced accidental exposure and the resulting physical consequences. While it is imperative for food allergy sufferers to always be keenly aware of hidden potential for cross contact and accidental exposure, restaurant staff can be far more proactive for their patron’s safety. Knowing whether food is fried in peanut
