You know how people always forget stuff? Like no matter how many times you remind them or write it down for them, they always manage to not remember what they were supposed to do. Well, what if I tell you that sometimes it is not pure ignorance. In some cases, it might be a disease. I know, scary! Just imagine an illness that takes away your best memories of places, pets, friends, family, and loved ones. I’m here to warn you that a disease like this does exist! This horrific monstrosity is called Alzheimer's. This type, however, is linked to genes. At least two generations have this type of the disease. This type is diagnosed in the mid 40’s. This type is one percent of all Alzheimer’s conditions ("Alzheimer's Disease Center: Dementia Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Treatments"). In other words, Alzheimer's disease is a common disease among older people that causes memory loss. On the bright side, though, there are ways to treat this disease and ways to help people who already possess the disease. Symptoms of this disease can be seen as normal human error such as forgetting a person’s name or a family member’s birthday celebration or your own anniversary date, but memory lost, is the key factor in having Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease is a disease that attacks memory cells in the brain, so memory loss is the worst symptom there is for this disease. There are other symptoms ,though, that come before memory loss in the extremely weird case of Alzheimer’s disease. Other symptoms include disorientation, trouble in focusing and communication, trouble sleeping, confusion, trouble coming up with the right words or using the wrong words, and dramatic mood swings ("Alzheimer's Disease Information: Facts, Causes, Definition, and…show more content…
Scientists are not entirely sure but they think it could be a protein ApoE in the blood, but the most obvious cause they can find is tangled nerve cords . Apoe is a protein that moves cholesterol in the blood. Scientists also hypothesize that genetics are a higher risk ("Alzheimer's Disease Information: Facts, Causes, Definition, and More"). This swift memory robber has many treatments, but unfortunately, no cure has been found ("Alzheimer's Disease Center: Dementia Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Treatments"). However, medications can slow symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease ("Alzheimer's Disease Center: Dementia Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Treatments"). Some treatments are used to also treat Hiv/ Aids and cancers. Such as, Monoclonal antibodies or Aducanumab, which help clear away Betahamyoid away from the brain. Beta Amyloid is a “sticky” substance that builds up in the brain causing plagues ("Alzheimer's Disease"). Different drugs are used to slow the progression of the disease, such as Aricept, which is used on all symptoms of Alzheimer’s. Another treatment is Donepezil, which is used to treat confusion. Another medication that can help is Razadyne, which is used for mild cases for people just starting to experience
