George: Am I doing the right thing? Lennie was with me since we were young. Since the time that his Aunt Clara died, I was the one who took care and look after him. We traveled together, we worked together and we dreamed together. I might throw a scare on Lennie when I see him. He might think that I'm mad at him. I might ruin Curley's plan because I'm too scared to kill him. How'd we get to this point? If Lennie listened to me, this wouldn't happen.
“Lennie was in a panic. His face was contorted. She screamed then, and Lennie's other hand closed over her mouth and nose. "Please don't," he begged. "Oh! Please don't do that. George'll be mad." … "I don't want you to yell. You gonna get me in trouble jus' like George says you will. Now don't you do that." And she
After Lennie has inadvertently murdered Curley’s wife, Curley’s lynch mob go out in search of Lennie. George’s decision is almost inevitable to spare Lennie’s life, rather than let Curley and his gang destroy the bit of life Lennie has.
The mice and Men so the prompt that I chose was what would happen if George went with Lennie Instead of killing him .So I think George went with Lennie I think there friend ship would last longer and they would get along more and they would have a great time In some ways . So like George would been cool and not to kill Lennie at all and they would have a lot of great things to talk about other greats thing they knew and I don’t think George would have a really great time with Lennie I don’t think, he would not kill Lennie at all . But however In George's eyes, he was saving Lennie, doing him a favor. He felt that the angry mob would have punished Lennie beyond what he deserved, and he also believed that Lennie may continue to hurt people if he lived.
George told Lennie to wait and not talk to anyone but he got bored and went to talk to Curley’s wife which he is not supposed to be tlaking to her and she started to say something that Lennie didn’t like and he didn’t mean too kill her but he is stronger then you know. If George didn’t make Lennie wait so long and give him so many restrictions then this may have never happened.
Any good person does not want to watch a friend to be hurt, and George is no exception. George is most worried for Lennie when Curley says ‘“i’m gonna shoot the guts outta that big dumb bastard myself, even if i only got one hand.”’ (steinbeck 48). this is when Curley, Slim and Carlson are getting together to find Lennie and hurt him and kill him. George thought
When Curley said he is going to shoot the guts out of Lennie, George was shocked and could only think of one solution. With the way that Curley will kill Lennie, Lennie will be scared, hurt, and wondering about what will happen. Luckily, George was there to talk to him and make him excited and joyful, before Lennie was shot in the
George takes care of Lennie many ways. George has taken care of Lennie for a long time. George took him under his wing even though he didn’t need to. George genuinely cares for Lennie. He feeds him, makes sure he is safe, also he gives him hope. George is constantly watching Lennie. George is a good friend to Lennie; however, George gets annoyed with Lennie very easily. He does this to make sure he doesn’t get into trouble or lost. He never leaves him by himself. This is shown when Lennie offers to leave, but George tells him “I want you to stay with me Lennie”(Steinbeck 104). George really cares for Lennie.
When Lennie ran off of the ranch to the Gabilan Mountains where he has a talk with his Aunt Clara. He informs her that he tried in the relationship. “I tried, Aunt Clara, ma’am. I tried and tried.” (Steinbeck #)On the contrary, George knew he had to kill Lennie himself before Curley could get his hands on him and before he’d be locked up in jail for committing a crime.
Lennie was right, George was not mean about. He did not beat him. He did not argue with him. All he did was talk about a good life so that Lennie can go happily and with a vision of his dream. The only thing that Lennie was right about is that George was leaving Lennie.
George sometimes visualizes what a better life he would have without Lennie. While they settle down before going to the ranch, George gets frustrated with Lennie because Lennie wants ketchup, but they don’t have any, so George tells him, “‘God a’mighty, if I was alone I could live so easy’”(11). This tells us George thinks about his future, and what it might be like without Lennie. But he knows that Lennie needs him for support due to his mental illness. In part of the story, Curley picks a fight with Lennie and starts to beat him
With gas prices on a slow rise it is no surprise that the United States has a huge dependency on oil. In a recent statistic from the US Energy Information Administration stated that in 2012 alone roughly 10.6 million barrels of petroleum were imported into the US daily. Most recently BP was accused of spilling approximately 470 to 1228 gallons of oil. And in recent past the major oil spill with in the Gulf of Mexico which occurred in 2010 that is by many is considered to be the worst oil spill in US history. An estimated 4.9 million barrels of oil was leaked into the Gulf coast. Being detrimental to not only wildlife but also has a huge impact on the planets general population as well. Most if not all forms of transportation with a large portion being cars run on oil and little alternatives to what can be used as a substitute. With such a high dependency on oil as well as being a high risk factor why hasn’t the US looked to other forms of energy that are both clean and efficient? Many countries have found alternative ways to supply energy. Most notably Sweden, in which in later years has been noted to actually import waste to use for their energy. If a viable energy alternative is not implemented then dependency on oil may inevitably deteriorate the infrastructure in which this country is operated upon as well as consequently negatively affect natural resources and wildlife to a point in which it will be near impossible to rehabilitate.
Falling Action: George says he wants Lennie to stay with him. He comments that ranch workers are always lonely, but he and Lennie are different because they have one another.
Jesus Christ, somebody'd shoot you for a coyote if you was by yourself. No, you stay with me. Your aunt Clara wouldn't like you running off by yourself, even if she is dead.” This show how George can be alone but he choose to be with Lennie even when Lennie told him that he will leave and leave him alone if that what he wanted to but George said it himself he wants Lennie to stay with him that shows that he needs someone to be with him even if that means to take care of him and deal with him every day. George even uses the excuse that Lennie wouldn't survive, that he will not be able to find any food or take care of himself and admits that he doesn't want him to go anywhere.
Throughout the story George sacrifices quite a lot of his time, and put in tremendous amounts of effort for Lennie. Who in return does not even remember the advice he is told.
George was a good friend to Lennie because he cares for him. Lennie’s aunt died a while back and George promised her that he would take care of Lennie no matter what. George was not forced to watch over Lennie, he made a choice and stuck with it. Also, Lennie was holding a dead mouse and he was petting it. George saw and threw it across the pool. (page 6) He did that so Lennie wouldn’t get sick or a disease. Finally, George and Lennie went to work on a farm and there was a woman. She was a man named Curley’s wife. George had heard that she was trouble and told Lennie to stay away from her so that he wouldn’t get hurt.
