One’s success depends on their desire and ambition to accomplish their goals. Ambition is a powerful force, that determines the capability of an individual. Success can be defined differently for every individual being that everyone wants to be successful at different things, for me, success means accomplishing something that I have set my mind to. As suggested in Bob Hicok’s poem Prodigal, individuals are capable of anything their ambitions allow, regardless of their so called starting point. This notion is what gives myself, and others hope in living the best version of life. Ambition, is not an easy quality to have. It takes perseverance, and a strong state of mind. Ones current reality doesn't determine their limitations, one’s ambition does. Where an individual's ambition ends, their limitations begin. The poem advocates that anyone is capable of anything, as long as they work for it. This idea is important to me, and provides me with the idea that I am capable of achieving anything. When I was younger I spent most of my spare time playing sports. I participated in competitive basketball, volleyball and soccer. I would have at least one, if not two practices or games a day. After making the top team, I quit volleyball and basketball to focus on soccer. Because I was playing at such a high level team, I still had something, either fitness, a practice or a game a day. This was my life for 7 years. The team I was on, had currently been undefeated for 3 years and counting. This is a major accomplishment being that we played hundreds of games within that time. I played centre back, the last line of defense, and usually played full 90 minute games. As well as playing for my league team, I played on the provincial team, and had been offered scholarships to colleges in the
