“Ambition is the germ from which all growth of nobleness proceeds” - Ambition is the start of a journey that will help one achieve success in life. Having a desire to attain something requires strong ambition; it is an essential quality for human kind, but to some extent. It helps to reach a significant goal in life, but at the same time becoming too ambitious to obtain a desire is harmful. Basically, just like a coin has two sides, ambition also has two sides; optimistic side and a pessimistic side.
Ambition is good and it will benefit the one with a particular ambition, since having an ambition is really optimistic. For example, from the famous play Macbeth – By Shakespeare, Lady Macbeth has a desire of her husband wanting to be the new

Just like I have an ambition, my parents had an ambition too; there ambition was to leave everything back in their home country and move to a better country for a better future. Personally, I think this is a really big ambition because my parents left everything for my sake; my better future’s sake. Even though they didn’t harm anyone else for this ambition, but they did harm themselves since it is not easy to leave your loved ones and move over the oceans for a whole new life. Basically, ambitions are made to benefit people in one way or another, the only thing that matters is to choose the right one.
It is a responsibility to have a strong and successful ambition; however it should be to some extent. If an ambition is hurting someone then it should be considered an ambition since there is not point of reaching a goal by hurting others because that would be cheating. Just like in the play “Macbeth – By Shakespeare” Lady Macbeth had a very considerable ambition, but too obtain that ambition she had to harm others, and as result of that she harmed herself at the end. That is having an ambition for harming instead of getting benefit from it. In addition, the ambition that my parents had was acceptable and fair, since they weren’t hurting anyone else to achieve it. Just like we need to drink water every day, but too some extent, similarly it is significant to have an ambition but too some
What is ambition? Ambition is described as eager for success, power or fame. For Macbeth. Ambition was what drove him to become great, it forced him to change his nature towards evil. “He who blinded by ambition, raises himself to a position whence he cannot mount higher, must fall with the greatest loss” is a quote said by Niccolò Machiavelli. What it is explaining is that blind ambition will take you to a position in life where the only direction to go is down, as you are already as high to top as possible. Blind Ambition is the strong desire to achieve something without taking into consideration what is happening around one’s self. People that are inspired by ambition may be capable of doing prodigious things, but when tempted by their blind yearnings, it can lead to the destruction of their own self and others around them. An over ambitious person will often go to extremes and do anything they are capable of, in order
The theme of ambition is portrayed in three vast different ways between these text. They have many things in common, yet also have many things that differ between one another. In Shakespeare’s play, “Macbeth”, he uses ambition and loyalty hand-in-hand to provide a sense of relatability, while in “Ambition” by Edgar Albert Guest, he uses drive and motivation to portray his view of ambition. Finally, in “Aspiration”, by Emily Dickinson, she uses passion and longing for something to depict her view of ambition.
When the desire to achieve is greater than the foregone conclusion people begin to risk what they usually would not. Ambition is defined as a strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work. In both Shakespeare's Macbeth and Jon krakauer's Into Thin Air ambition is what drives characters to achieve and to ignore consequences
The meaning of ambition is not always negative. Being ambitious can cause a strong drive to success. In Macbeth, there are two characters, Macbeth and Malcolm that represent good and evil ambitions. Same as Macbeth, the movie Lion King also has two comparisons of being ambitious. They are Scar and Simba. Both of Macbeth and the Lion King give examples of how ambitions have shown when the characters become ambitious because of their desires. However, I believe that ambition can be whether positive or negative. It depends on the goals and how one design the ways to achieve it.

My personal goal as a student at the University of Phoenix is to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management within the next two years. This goal is very important to me because of the impact it will have on my family, work and personal life. In my family it will set a positive example for my daughters, grandchildren, and youngest sister. My family has been a source of support throughout my years in college as I have pursued this degree while maintaining a full time job. Obtaining the degree will be an accomplishment not only for me but also for my family who has given me the encouragement to reach my goal. I would like for my grandchildren to remember their grandmother as a strong and educated woman.
Ambitious people are continually working on the next goal or dream. This means they rarely have time for their kids or their wives or husbands. This may divide the family, lead to divorce, where the kids and adults endure suffering . “...but not enough to spend all your time working for your loved ones instead of spending time with them.” Your ambition may be driven by the need to provide for your family, or ensure that your family is financially stable. When I was 17 years old, my father was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Without a doubt it was an event which marked my life and helped me mature in many aspects. I witnessed how my father began to lose his cognitive functions like his ability to focus, changes in his personality, behavior and emotions. This was the first time that I felt interested in learning how the brain process the information and motivated to learn more regarding this disease in order to help him. After my father passed away, my mother fell into a depression so I began to search for ways to improve her emotional state by reading books and magazines on the subject.
Everybody hopes to one day achieve some sort of goal. Being successful requires ambition and motivation. Ambition is a strong desire to do or to achieve a particular goal that a person has in hopes to become successful. Ralph Waldo Emerson, an American essayist, lecturer, and poet, once said that “Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it.” Ambition is a good thing because people should always work hard to do their best and achieve more. If people weren’t ambitious than they wouldn’t strive to achieve and be successful in life.
