What is America greatest obstacle? I think it is paying off the national debt because over the year it usually gets worse. As of right now, America’s debt is about sixteen trillion dollars and the national debt increases by about thirty-five million dollars an hour. This debt has come from money that the United States government borrows to pay its bills. The money they have borrowed comes from other countries like China, Japan, and other places. There are several rumors that the national debt will go up to 26.3 trillion dollars because of federal health care programs. Federal health spending is currently equal to five point six percent of the economy. As the population grows older, spending on Medicare and Social Security will increase due
Why is it that as a society we cannot overcome this obstacle? The United States of America, while not flawless, has reached great success and achievements yet cannot provide proper healthcare
“The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution.” – Thomas Jefferson. Since the first contact with the Europeans, native peoples in the U.S have been battling with powerful government bodies and have repeatedly lost. Looking back to even before the founding of the Union, native populations have went to war against the progressive, overpowering and belittling nature of the government and have walked away with disease, famine and useless treaties. It is these bitter roots that have affected the native nations in the U.S even today. Battle scars of decades past can still be seen on reservations throughout the United States. This isn’t a game of finders keepers, there needs to be a fair way to allocate
I believe that America is facing a great deal of problems at this time; however, the top four issues in my opinion are economic instability, unemployment, gun control and limitations on Constitutional rights. I selected my top four based upon how the issue impacts American citizens and their families. I also selected things that I
What are the largest problems that plague America? Most would argue that issues such as mass hunger, climate change and poverty are the most prominent difficulties that the United States faces. While these things are important, and do have a great impact on the country, there is another large and often forgotten issue that faces America: childhood obesity. This nationwide problem is also directly harmful to the strength and conditioning industry. Physical education classes are failing to involve kids in the necessary amount of daily physical activity. Parents are lacking proactivity to get kids exercising. Food marketing is aggressively drawing children to junk food, and restaurants are failing to provide healthy food options for kids. Children in America today are fatter than they’ve been at any point in the history of humans. Childhood obesity is the largest problem facing the strength and conditioning industry because it causes severe physical, psychological and social problems later on in life; therefore it is imperative that children be educated on nutrition so that they can be knowledgeable viewers of modern day food marketing.
The country is the first and most the biggest obstacle on the journey of accomplishing for anyone and that’s an American Dream. Some may not appreciate how difficult it actually is to make a name as an immigrant to the United States. While many Americans know how difficult it is to find a good job in the American economy today and most do not realize and understand how hard it is to get in to this country on your own. If and when some immigrants get into our country, they are automatically forced to start at the bottom of the “totem pole” as Howard W. Foster said, “in the employment world, with many other out of work employees or employees who are new to the American workforce. Many immigrants that do not have an education or connections here in America, start off working minimum wage jobs, if they are fortunate, even some people who have been in America for their entire lives are forced to settle for minimum wage jobs.” According to Ted Widmer from “ What the Man behind the American Dream really meant” he explains there are not many employment opportunities out for immigrates and they are being turned down because of their race and where they came from but it is not the last step in trying to achieve their dreams. In many cases the money is not enough to live off of and some people are forced to get a second or third job that only pays minimum wage causing not enough time for education and without any education they can not move up in their life and they will stay at the same level for there rest of their life’s, it will continue it is an ending cycle in this generations and will be continued in the future. The American dream is about being satisfying with your life and completing your life but it is also about earning enough to have a respectable life, having the ability to move up within the work surroundings as well as
War, Slavery, Sexism, and Lack of freedom, these were the issues America has faced that put our country through an uproar. Present day America has been through several trials and tribulations in the past to get to the peaceful state it is today. Throughout the course of time America has been hit with unfortunate periods of feuds with countries near and far, determining how little freedom you have based on your gender or race, and in most cases having the government dictate what happens in your life. Despite our hardships, America took baby steps to improve its country. These little and small changes brought us on the journey to turn America into the powerful nation it is now. American history gave us hope for the future.
First, I’ll address what I perceive to be the greatest issue: Economy. Currently, the USA is in around a $19,000,000,000,000 (19 trillion), which is extremely high. We are in a financial predicament that keeps growing larger by the day. Public debt is at 13.6 trillion, while the intragovernmental debt sits at 5.34 trillion. Since 2001, more than 63,000 manufacturing facilities have been shut down in the USA; therefore, it’s not surprising that today less than 65% of all men hold a job. 35% of Americans are enrolled in a federal welfare program. Another awry fact: Medicare is growing at an intense rate, yet faces unfunded liabilities of roughly 39 trillion dollars over the next 75 years. This results in a need of a solution. To start, decriminalizing marijuana and taxing it would be highly
We all know America is a diversify country. All different type of people with different races, culture, religion, and life styles are living here since decades. We all faces different types of challenges differently but today my essay will address challenge that we as an American face in our lives. My essay will explain it's causes and how badly it could impact on American reputation. Consumption of Alcohol in an excessive amount and creating social issues is getting worst in our homes, family and society.
Fellow Americans, The United States faces many complications. I believe that our country is failing at doing its job and that compared to America years ago, we are worse off than before. Our country as a whole isn't the only thing that is failing, our educational system has been a problem since 2009. Illegal immigrants are also a problem. They contribute to another issue the US faces, this issue is the National Debt. That being said, I do believe that every problem our country faces can be solved or at least prevented.
The U.S. ranks one of lowest in health care performance internationally. The U.S. has vast access to quality health care and is far ahead of any other country in technology, but it is one of the most expensive healthcare system in the world but still underperforms more than any other country. The U.S. can benefit learning from other countries that have developed a better healthcare system. The U.S. is a young country compared to other countries, it’s still developing a way to provide the American people universal healthcare. Obama care otherwise known as Affordable care act was supposed to cover everyone, where everyone has access to health care at low cost, but that has been proven not to be true, it has a very low approval rating, for
In my personal opinion, I believe America is not still a place you can begin with the basics and get to upper class due to various obstacles. The obstacles consist basically of discrimination; racism, gender, and poverty. The people in upper class mostly consists of those with inheritances. First, I believe being an immigrant plays a big role in some aspects of reaching the upper class. In America if you’re an immigrant, it’s difficult or almost impossible to have the same opportunities as a citizen of the United States. For example, you’re not allowed to receive scholarships or grants. Which may be the only way some people can attend colleges due to money issues. Also, very limited government benefits. If not all educational opportunities
America’s issues extend much farther than those. As Will McAvoy states during an interview on HBO series, The News Room, “The first step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one, America is not the greatest country in the world anymore.” Although America is a great country compared to others, McAvoy’s claim is true, America is no longer the greatest country in the world. We lie to ourselves, our children, and the world with the same promises which entices others to migrate here. The American Dream only serves the purpose of perpetuating that lie. People such as Donald Trump are wrong when they claim, “The American dream is dead, but I will bring it back.” When in fact it is very much alive, deceiving outsiders and oppressing those living within the country who attempt to gain the unobtainable. The American Dream needs severe revision, steps must be taken to end violence amongst ourselves if we expect there to be any change, our money needs to go towards the necessities in life, and living shouldn’t be so expensive, even dying has become too costly! I believe we can become great again, but only if our problems become recognized rather than some side project no one takes any interest in until the very last minute. Our prejudices need to be put aside if any change is to be brought about in this nation, this is a diverse nation with a multitude of nationalities, ethnicities, cultures, sexualities, religions, shapes, sizes, and education levels, and it has been so for centuries now. Discrimination should no longer be a topic of discussion because it simply should not
What is the American Dream? According to Merriam Webster it is a “Happy way of living that is thought by many Americans as something that can be achieved by anyone in the U.S. especially by working hard and becoming successful.” In the book The House on Mango Street we see the life of a girl named Esperanza and her struggles it is then shown that many people are trying to reach the American Dream but are not able to. To Her Mama it would be the fact that she was shameful back when she was a child and to her family it would be Money and their Background. What is the biggest obstacle to reaching the American Dream.
“Americans like to believe [they] move the world forward, and in many ways [they are], at least in popular culture, social issues, and technology” (Beres). Even though there is no proper definition for American Greatness, people could tell what values they are improving on that are leading toward it and “progress is wonderful, and, truth be told, we’re making a lot of it” (Beres). The finish line does not exist, but the pathway to it lies there. As long as Americans realize what manifest true greatness for their country is, the path would not be
According to my opinion, the greatest threat to our country is the debt ceiling and the corruption that lies within our own Government. The economy needs to improve in order for conflict to reduce. A stable economy creates jobs, reduces crime, increases salaries, decreases tension, increases happiness, causes better relationships with other countries (trade) etc. Research what inflation has done to this Country. Our government officials are extremely irresponsible when it comes to spending money and it doesn’t matter if they are Democrats or Republicans. I read the recent omnibus bill and a lot of it is wasteful spending. Did you know that this recent bill funds sanctuary cities, Planned Parenthood, the EPA and for security in Tunisia and Jordon? I don’t see
