American Citizens's Rights Analysis

As citizens of the United States we have rights and responsibilities that we have to obtain to. Some of our rights are written in the U.S. Constitution, which began from the Magna Carta, and others are just traditional. The Bill of Rights and the John Locke’s Second Treatise on Government also highlights the rights and responsibilities of a U.S. citizen. Politics is such an important topic to citizens that at one point is was believed that politics should be a part time job.
The Magna Carta was used to write the U.S. Constitution since it relates to the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizens. The U.S. Constitution consists of six different principles. Those principles are popular sovereignty, limited government, separation of powers, checks and balances, judicial review, and federalism. Just like the English bill of rights the American bill of rights was created to limit the government's power and to protect everyone's liberty. James Madison, the author of the bill of writes, wanted to make changes to the Constitution but he was not allowed to do that, therefore they were made into amendments.
John Locke’s Second Treatise on Government also highlights the rights and responsibilities of a U.S. citizen, but most importantly it supports natural law and natural rights. Locke believed that the government should protect the natural law, the right that everyone is born with. Locke philosophies relate to a person's role in the government because the government is not supposed to own or rule over the people unless it's the will of the people.
