I. Native American Societies
-The “Clovis” peoples, (named after the spearhead used in hunting) of North America came across bringing diversifying languages, and ways of life with them
-Due to warmer climates arising, a period of agriculture came about: mainly including maize (corn, staple), beans and squash
-Due to agriculture rising, civilizations were able to be constructed
• Mexica (now known as Aztec Empire), which contributed their own ways for tribute and commerce
• Inca Empire, which contributed languages, as well as promoted irrigated farms, and buildings and roads composed of stones
• Mayan Empire, led to development of pyramids, palaces, bridges, as well as a written language, art, and a calendar; This was due to advances in mathematics …show more content…

The Columbian Exchange
-Also known as the Great Biological Exchange, was the Columbian Exchange, (a transfer of goods between the Old and New World ultimately in favor of Europeans)
• Through this crops such as maize, beans and potatoes became primary to the Old World
• As well as this, pieces from Eurasia were beginning to be included into Native people’s culture such as the horse and pig
-Through this exchange, diseases were exchanged (smallpox & plague)
• Without any signs of immunity or cure, Americas began to demolish
V. Spanish Legacy
-A lasting impact was left on borders including California to Florida due to Spaniards
-Due to the presence of Catholic missionaries, “heathen” beliefs
