The website is which means that the website is ran by an organization, usually non-profit, not a commercialized company. At first glance, what I notice is a clear lay out and tabs, at the top of the page, offering information such as: Topics, News & Events, Education, Careers and Membership. The content is easy to see and the colors are pleasing to the eye. The APA website content appears to be divided up into various sections providing both information about the site itself and information outside the site. There is a running slide show, in the center of the page,…show more content…
The site’s purpose appears to be an outlet for all things psychology, whether it’s psychological topics for personal interest, employment or assistance with papers ( The first section I clicked is the “About APA” tab. There is a blue banner centered on the page and beneath the blue shade you see a group of people. That banner creates a feeling of family, of belongingness. Just below that banner it states, “The American Psychological Association is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States, with more than 122,500 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students as its members (” They have also listed the site and organization mission statement, strategic plan, code of ethics, definition of psychology and breadth of Psychology. There is also a selection titled, “Financial Corporate Documents,” subtitled, “General financial information about the association,” which offers the visitor a sense of transparency about the Association. The “About” page provides a deeper look into APA and I am able to get a better understanding of who exactly is the author, what their goal is for the site and how they uphold themselves as an organization. Stated in the middle of the page, on the right hand side, underneath Governance and Senior Staff, it states, “APA 's daily operations are overseen by its senior staff at APA headquarters in Washington, D.C.
