The first major event that occurred in this decade was in 1912. On April 14th the large ship hit an iceberg and sunk. In 1914 the alliances with Germany, Austria-Hungary, Italy’s Triple Alliance, Franco-Russian, and Entente Cordiale became contradictory with other countries’ expanding empires. In 1917, America enters World War 1 because of threats from Germany. Lastly, in 1919 congress established the Grand Canyon National Park.

Maya Angelou was a woman who overcame many things in her youth. She later became very famous through poetry and writing.In 1918 half the cars in the US were made by carmaker Henry Ford. Harry Houdini was also a famous person in this decade. He was a very amazing magician.

In 1910 the first electric refrigerators and air conditioning units were now in homes. Also in 1910 many suburban homes were wired with new electrical gadgets. Although this was not the first zipper it is the one we use today. In 1911 Charles Franklin Kettering invented the first automobile electric ignition system.Lastly, in 1913 the crossword puzzle was invented by Arthur Wynne.

C.S Lewis was an important philosopher in this decade. He wrote several books regarding Christian apologetics. He wrote several books but he is mainly known for his books about. Christian apologetics. Ludwig Wittgenstein was another important person. He wrote the book Philosophical Investigations. It focused on linguistics and the way it is used to form thoughts.
