There has been debate regarding whether it was right for the Obama administration to allow amnesty for illegal immigrants or not. Various researchers and scholars have voiced their opinion regarding this subject, with some supporting the government decision. Many, however, have opined differently and are against this decision. This treatise will carry out an argumentative analysis that will justify how the pitfalls of amnesty surpass the benefits from the same. In order to gain understanding on this subject, it is critical to highlight that the Obama administration had permitted some illegal immigrants into the country, prior to this act of amnesty. Further, he believes that amnesty as a law, with knowledge of illegal immigration, acts to award the illegals while disrespecting loyal and law-abiding American citizens. It is also unfair morally because it undermines the opinions and rights of millions of legal immigrants who have abided by the rules and followed America’s legal framework to become citizens. There are many legal immigrants who have taken the time, often elongated and spanning years, to conform to the established laws regarding immigration. Offering amnesty to the illegals is unfair, but also, the ultimate betrayal to those legal immigrants. Another factor that amnesty affects is crime at the United States borders. Curbing the crime rate at our borders has been made more difficult. The border patrol officers have to deal with a large number of illegal immigrants which not only complicates their security activities, but also makes it difficult for them to track criminals that may pose as immigrants. This will consequently increase the cost of deterring crime in the country, as well as, reduce the effectiveness of our police officers. Safety, for citizens alone, being affected makes amnesty
