Harvard University was fortunate enough to have Amy Poehler, a renowned, actress, and comedian, to speak at their 2011 commencement ceremony. She is known for her involvement in the hit television show, Parks and Recreation.
Romantic comedies are loved by many; however, not many stop to think about how these women are stereotyped every time, giving the female character limits on their personality. Actress, comedian, writer and producer Mindy Kaling in her essay, “Types of Women in Romantic Comedies Who Are Not Real” classifies the stereotypes given to women in romantic comedies. from her 2011 collection of essays Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns), is a comic essay on how she loves romantic comedies, but knows that female characters are fictional, and explains how they can still be appreciated. Kaling in her essay presents the female stereotypes by classifying them, and doing so with humor. The seven classifications she used are, “The Klutz”, “The Ethereal Weirdo”, “The Woman Who Is Obsessed with Her Career and Is No Fun at All”, “The Forty-Two-Year-Old Mother of the Thirty-year-old Male Lead”, “The Sassy Best Friend”, “The Skinny Woman Who Is Beautiful and Toned but Also Gluttonous and Disgusting”, and “The Woman Who Works in an Art Gallery”. This essay is fun informative and great for Kaling’s fans, and romantic comedy fans alike. This essay transitions throughout, from entertainment to a slight defensive yet still humorous. Maycomb County, Alabama is a town that demonstrates separate is surely not equal. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee suggests the evident role race plays in the town.
From birth, a child develops physically. They firstly develop their reflexes, for example rooting, sucking and swallowing. At one month a baby should startle less. At 3 months a baby should lift and turn their own head. At 6 months a baby should be able to lift their hands and feet into the air. At 9 months a baby should be able to use their fingers to feed. At one year a baby should be able to stand holding onto furniture. At 18 months a child should be able to sit, and ride toys using their legs to push. At 2 years a child should be able to run and climb. At 3 years a child should be able to walk up stairs independently. At 4 years a child should be able to use their hands for tasks such as using scissors. At 5-6 years a child should be able to kick and control a ball. At 7-9 years a child should be able to draw and write neater, and cut out more accurately. At 9-11 years a child should have better coordination in fine and large movements. At 11-13 years a young person should have growth and changes to their body. At 13-19 years a young person’s body shape will be changing.
All in all, confidence is the key towards happiness and hard times have made Tina Fey a leading role figure in woman’s constant pressure of social expectations needing to be fulfilled. I strongly believe that one of Tina Fey’ s special abilities is to be humorous in general and therefore that trade will be kept the same after the story has concluded. This has inspired others to be their true self without feeling ashamed or judged. Even when they were constantly criticized for their way of doing things. The hard working dedication that Tina has, might change due to family matters and wanting to enjoy life more instead of always working with your best self due to stress around one individual. Lauren Jauregui is a Cuban American singer that started off in the X-Factor who has become an inspiration using her voice. Other than being a singer she is a feminist, rights activist, and overall charitable person. Lauren is proudly open about her views on topics that are not usually talked about and is constantly encouraging others to do the same. The singer believes this influences change for the better. The role of female lead characters in film has evolved in a positive way since the beginning of cinema. During the early years of Hollywood female characters were secondary characters with little importance, with many films not including them at all. However, over time women leads in film became more complex and have evolved into multidimensional characters. This evolution started in the 1940’s with films such as The Philadelphia Story, continued with Aliens in the 1980’s, and has led to the fantastic characters that exist in films such as Gravity in 2014.
Now, how on earth can I even put into words just how phenomenal Barbara is? In the English language, I believe I have used every word imaginable to describe the acting and character of this delightful personage. Every time I see Barbara in anything, I am utterly dumbstruck by her matchless gifts and the readiness with which she displays them. Not only is Barbara a dynamic actress who can play any role imaginable, but she also is a master at bringing the best out of every person within the scene. There are a few actors who have this knack, and they are often few and far between. Thankfully, the charm, grace, and ease with which Barbara illuminates the screen cause everyone else to rise to the occasion. Barbara has that extra little spark that
