College Essay
Hour 1
An American computer scientist named John Backus once said, “They don 't like thinking in medical school. They memorize - that 's all they want you to do. You must not think.”. When searching for a school to study at, it almost seems as hard to find a school then actually being in college. Researching for a college takes a lot of effort and determination. The school should offer the classes required for the dream career of the student. The school should also have an outstanding campus environment and have an affordable cost. When considering to go to The University of Milwaukee, some factors to become aware of are the class programs they offer, the friendly campus environment, and the cost of living.

The university is located in a large urban area in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Attending a college that is located in a large area can have positive effects and negative effects to the learning environment. A positive effect is all the options for different clinical jobs required to take while working towards a physical therapy degree. Negative effects are the noises at night that could distract students from focusing on learning. Milwaukee offers many opportunities to be a part of the campus environment by encouraging students to be a part of activities. The University often offers live music and art shows, put on by some students, for students to go and enjoy. How will the University of Connecticut School of Medicine best serve your needs of becoming a physician or physician scientist?
For high school juniors college starts in two years and now is the time that students need to start considering options for college. Students need to think whether they would want to stay in-state or go out-of-state and what they want to study. College is an important aspect in life to help students prepare for the future; some people will go to college for four years, eight years, or more, but they first need to weigh the options. There are two schools that a prospective medical student can consider; the University of South Florida or the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. The University of South Florida (USF) and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC) both have medical programs and have differences in student life, location, and tuition.
Ever since I was a kid, I have always dreamed of being able to go to UW-Madison. From it being known as the best college in the Midwest to the amount of opportunities and variety of subjects it has, UW Madison has always been my dream college to attend. I decided to apply for the University of Wisconsin-Madison because of the academic options it offers, the credibility of being one of the best schools in America, and the experience that UW-Madison offers that other colleges do not.
I am applying to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, because it is a large school with outstanding credentials, with a strong community and lots of school spirit. This is exactly what I am looking for for in my college environment. I want a large school population where I can meet new people every day, get involved in many activities, and where I can make connections and build relationships with my professors. I also look forward to living in snow again - I moved from Denmark to California a few years ago, and I miss the winter weather!
In the end University of Wisconsin-Madison seems like the right college for me for many reasons. The location seems perfect and the academics feel like they would lead me towards getting a degree in a field I would enjoy pursuing. The Wisconsin experience sounds like exactly what I would want my college experience to be
Which medical schools are you applying to? Have you considered specializing? What are your thoughts on the future of healthcare, and where do you see yourself contributing most within the system? As a budding pre-medical student, I am beaten over the head with these questions routinely, while answers, void of any deep dissection, spew from my mouth like blood from a wounded hemophiliac. Yet, five weeks ago when I walked in to OR-21 for the first time, one question in particular slipped into my conscious, born into a thought-consuming silence penetrated by beeps; what type of music will I prefer to listen to when I perform surgery? The answer to my query relies on many assumptions, and the question itself may never find the context needed to be asked again. Regardless, the question’s existence poses as a platform for a novel stream of thought.
What kind of clubs of athletics does this school have to offer its students? EIU has lots of different clubs and activities to offer its students. Some of these clubs include Religious associations, arts, sports, and even Greek life is offered, (Family Connection. 2017) So, not only is there lots of clubs, but also ways for the students to be connected to one another. Campus life is something that also brings the students to the college. There are 11 dorms within Eastern, and most of the dorms are co-ed, which can be both a negative thing and positive things for the school.
My areas of study will include chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physics which will fulfill the prerequisites for medical school. Psychology, family studies, health education, American Sign Language, and honors courses will assist me in becoming a well-rounded medical school candidate. My course of study in these different departments come
As a student at Milwaukee I would enjoy the chances to educate myself on the things that I believe are interesting. I would love to take advantage of the Science Program. Since Milwaukee is a large school, I can only imagine what the science program will be able to offer me with the different projects and hands on experiences that I would get nowhere
Pacific University is a college that I feel blessed to attend and I don’t think I could be lucky enough to find a college that feels more like home. The small class sizes and the personal relationship with the staff is what makes Pacific feel so comfortable. I hear from close friends of mine about their college experience at different colleges and I feel fortunate to be a part of the Pacific community. I’m a student who lives off campus and is not one to be hugely involved with clubs, as I don’t have the time, but the people at Pacific still manage to make absolutely everyone feel important and involved. Pacific does an incredible job in hiring their staff and admitting their students, as I feel safe around everyone on campus. I think that’s
I will research what each medical school has to offer and which school I think would be the best fit. Miller School of Medicine is associated with the University of Miami but I will research to find out what it has to offer research, and residency wise. Brody School of Medicine is located in North Carolina, which would be a reason to stay here. It is a newer medical school so is a newer or older medical school better? Baylor College of Medicine is in Houston, Texas making it an outlier but is one of the top research Universities in the U.S (Best Med Schools: Research. US News & World Report).
Louis offers many different clubs and organizations for students. Current students attending Washington University in St. Louis say there is a club for anything one could possibly imagine and more. There are opportunities as advanced as owning one’s own business on campus for the time spent at Washington University in St. Louis, to something as simple as the Butter Churning Club. Three interesting clubs provided at Washington University in St. Louis are Ellevate, Connections, and I-Can. Ellevate is a woman’s club which focuses on the importance of global networking in order to increase one’s professional career. The club hosts many opportunities for women to practice networking skills before entering the real world. Connections focuses on creating a sense of community on campus. The club hosts many events promoting inclusion on and off campus. I-Can provides students with the opportunity to help international students learn leadership skills, while also immersing them in an English speaking environment (wustl.edu). Washington University in St. Louis participates in Greek life, but differently than most universities. Students are not allowed to live in Greek housing, and are not permitted to join any Greek community until several weeks into the semester. This allows the students to settle in and grow accustomed to the university’s
In order to determine which school is best in the UW system excluding Madison, I will compare these characteristics cost of tuition, number of majors available, student to teacher ratio, and number of clubs/sports available. Cost of tuition is one of the most important things when deciding what college to go to, usually the cheaper the better. Unlike the cost of tuition, a high number of majors and minors is very important in case you change your major/ minor. This gives you more options if you change or major/minors. Student to teacher ratio is the number of students per 1 teacher, the lower the number usually the better because you get a more one on one experience. Many colleges offer lots of clubs and sports from chess club to football.
“Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is your best,” says five-time NBA champion, Tim Duncan. This quote accurately summarizes my aspirations to become the best physician I can. My passion for medicine was enhanced during my Cleveland Clinic internship this past summer. I seek to begin my undergraduate studies at a university that can nurture this passion and help me reach my full potential. Northwestern University (NU) certainly fits these criteria. NU is built for excellence by providing its students the resources and tools needed to succeed. NU would challenge me with rigorous courses instructed by dedicated professors. I am particularly fond of the small classes at NU because they tend to cultivate an interactive and engaging learning environment.
My chosen career to pursue in college is in medical field, more specifically pharmaceuticals. I wish to become a pharmacist because after extensive research and personal interest. But before I can even think about chasing my chosen career, I have to create a goal and take steps to achieve that goal. To begin I have to pick the best college for my career, and one that is within reason. There are also a huge variety of colleges to choose from, although I believe that Florida State University would be the best choice for me. Not only do they provide anIexcellent medical program, they also have many different activities that interest me as well.
