Internship is a six to eight weeks working experience in any organization. The purpose behind doing an internship is to get familiar with a professional working environment. Often students do internships during there vacations so as to gain experience in their field of interest. Students studying engineering, computer science, textiles or business management; they are required to perform at least an internship so as to receive degree from their respective institutions. The purpose of writing this essay is to share my wonderful working experience as an internee at Spyglass Winery. A survey was conducted at Texas A&M University in which the “Big Five” traits of Psychology were measured. The focus of the research is to use descriptive statistics to determine the average personality across the Texas A&M University student body and compare the results to the average personality across the University of Texas student body. Descriptive statistics describes the data that the researcher is analyzing in terms of the average and variability of the sample. Two types of descriptive statistics exist to describe the data: central tendency and variability. Central tendency describes the average of a sample by interpreting the mean, median, and mode. Variability describes the difference in the set of scores through the interpretation of standard deviation, variance, and range.

The process of finding an internship was very stressful for me. I honestly had no idea where to start or even what I was interested in. It took me many weeks to do research into different facilities that had internships available. After calling tons of organizations I finally interviewed at one that felt right for me. The interview took place with Laura Crain, who I also interviewed for this essay. The internship is at the McHenry County Substance Abuse Coalition.

An internship can also heighten the awareness of community issues, motivates to create opportunities, embrace new ideas, and give direction to positive change. A successful internship can provide valuable information in making decisions about the direction of future studies or employment. An internship is an opportunity to not only use and develop industry-related knowledge and skills, but also to enhance some of the skills that are transferable to any professional work setting. For some people, the internship is the first introduction to the world of work. No matter where the skills and understanding of professionalism lie, internship is a chance to develop them even further.

Throughout my education career at Texas A&M there have been a few different significant educators that have peaked my interest. My focus in undergrad was English/Language Arts and Social Studies for middle school, but as I’ve learned more through my graduate degree I’ve become fascinated with the idea of different types of schooling and the lower level grades. For example, I never heard of an open concept classroom until my first graduate course. Once I heard this idea I’ve been researching and looking up alternative education models, such as Montessori, with interest in maybe teaching in this type or another alternative school eventually. In addition, I’ve researched how educators began to create certain “levels” in schooling based on age, and focused in on kindergarten. My very first job in education was with kindergarten and I was always curious to know how this specific “pre-school” level of education was brought into existence. This time in a child’s life is crucial to their success because they are building a foundation for their future career in school, and I want to learn more about it. The following is my research on Maria Montessori and Frederick Froebel, two significant educators with an impact on the field of education in alternative schooling and kindergarten respectively.

When I was a little girl nothing was more gratifying than lining all my stuff animals and dolls up with paper and pencils.
