An Argument Against Animal Experiments

Over 100 million animals in 2015 including rodents, dogs and cats have been killed and tortured in the laboratories of the United States of America (reference). Debates have been erupting during the past few years concerning the experimentations done on animals. Many animal right organizations have stood up against testing cosmetics, medications, and certain chemicals on these living creatures. This essay will be covering an argument against the experimentations done on animals ethically and scientifically and the disagreements regarding such concern.
Annually, for the sake of scientific purposes, many animals suffer from the cruel procedures they face in the laboratories. Testers start off with a normal and healthy animal, and the animal is made sick. (Animal Experimentation, n.d). Due to the fact that there is no specific law prohibiting the torturing of animals in most countries, researchers cross some of the ethical boundaries, many of the animals are shocked, poisoned, and deafened. One mouse gives birth to a litter of 3-14 in a period of 18-22 days. Such process occurs 5 times a year, giving an offspring of 70 annually. Some also state that it is also cheaper, and easier to reach when compared to other alternatives such as human body cells. In addition, it is argued that in order to save the lives of thousands of children it is suitable to sacrifice the lives of thousands of animals, because humans are given more value compared to animals, which is an ethical issue.
Finally, the ethical and scientific issues concerning animal testing are endless. Although there are other accurate and better alternatives such as testing on human cells, researchers still insist on researching on other living creatures.
