Heart Disease: An Examination Heart or cardiovascular disease is an umbrella term utilized for various diseases that can affect one's heart. As with any disease, there are certain factors that can exacerbate the onset and continuation of this disease. For this reason, the paper below will analyze heart disease in detail and describe the specific population that is prone to being affected by this disease, as well as what this population can do to help alleviate the harmful effects of heart disease. In order to understand heart disease, one must understand that there are many diseases that relate to this broad term. According to the Mayo Clinic, "Heart disease is a broad term used to describe a range of diseases that affect your heart. The various diseases that fall under the umbrella of heart disease include diseases of [ 因 blood vessels, such as coronary artery disease; heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias); heart infections; and heart defects [one is] born with (congenital heart defects)." Due to the fact that there are so many various diseases connected to heart disease, it is truly quite difficult to single out one population to be examined. However, what is known about heart disease is that despite the fact that it can affect just about anyone, older males, especially in the African American, Native American and Mexican American population are most at risk.
