In the song “Yesterday” Paul McCartney sings about regret by using yesterday as something to look back on as something he wishes he could change. By Paul McCartney saying “Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say. I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday.” shows that he is confused about what mistakes he made and he wishes he could go back in time and fix them. Also by him saying “Oh, yesterday came suddenly.” shows that he feels that everything happened so fast that he didn’t have enough time to solve his problems also showing that regret theme of the song in wishing that he did things differently “yesterday”. Another great quote from the song is him saying “Oh, I believe in yesterday.” because it's pretty much saying that
He mentions the fight in the House of Representatives that broke out, in relation with the civil rights bill. He also about the equality between black and white people in the 1960’s. At this point this is being read the words “all is calm, all is bright” this completely contrast from the subject about racism but the song is representing a sense of tranquillity as if everything is okay when it is not.
This song has so much meaning because it was spoken from the heart. He didn’t have to really make up lyrics because he used his emotions. At the beginning of the song the lyrics are “Baby, last night was hands down/ One of the best nights/ That I've had no doubt/ Between the bottle of wine/
The first verse of the song shares the troubled relationship between the father and son, when it said, “he came to the world in the usual way, but there were planes to catch and bills to pay. He learned to walk while I was away.” This verse explained that he was away on some type of career to make money for the family, and provide for the son financially. However, he wasn’t able to spend quality time with him, and missed important milestones in his life, such as taking his first steps. His career obviously came before his son and family, and he made excuses for that. Then it finishes with the chorus, which says, “when you
There have been many people, known as artists, who have tried to change the world through their art. “Art” can be paintings, music, dances, sculptures, literature, or photography. There are many ways to communicate and express ones feelings but The Beatles did it through their popular music. Although they didn’t focus on changing the world of politics or try to protest through their music they have songs that focus on those exact two things.
"Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," recorded in 1967, is to date the number one Rock and Roll album ever recorded. Sgt. Pepper's is considered to be the first concept album. There are many things that brought about the creation of The Beatles most influential album. Before The Beatles began the recording process of Sgt. Pepper's they had retired from touring. This gave the group ample time to experiment with different instruments, recording techniques and drugs. The album cover also sparked a revolution in itself. Many bands took notice of the creative elements of Sgt. Pepper's and learned from them.
The symbolism in this song is that life is hard for other members of the society. This song regards a man trying/ resolving to alter his ways before starting to change the world. This
This song, to me, strongly relates to slavery, especially in the lyric “I feel mistreated and I don’t mind dyin’.” It hits you hard to realize he would rather be happier off being dead than to be mistreated
“Yesterday” came to McCartney in a dream, but he only dreamt the melody. Trying to find words to go with his melody, McCartney sang, “Scrambled eggs/Oh my baby how I love your legs/Oh scrambled eggs,” when asked if he would like a snack of scrambled eggs (Sounes 125). The real lyrics would come to him while on a road trip to Portugal (125). However, “Yesterday” was different from the Beatles’ usual songs because it described emotions of turmoil, defeat, and regret. This was a stark contrast to the usual, optimistic work of the Beatles, such as when they encouraged their fans to “take a sad song and make it better.” McCartney later admitted that the death of his mother inspired the song, showing the immense impact that event had on his life

This very slow song, so in my opinion I think it reinforces a sense of bittersweet, because even though she mentions how she wants to be remembered for the good things that she did she also mentions death and regrets in her song.
the Beatles. And they had to go to Germany to do it. In order to
This theme is brought through the song by showing multiple literary devices. Such as “I'm the one at sail, I’m the master of my sea”. This metaphor shows the realization and empowerment that oneself can give in a depressing situation. This simile “Falling like ashes to the ground, Hoping my feelings they would drown” compares his feeling of sadness and depression to ashes, and wanting them to drown and vanish, from his life. This line, “All the hate that you’ve heard has turned your spirit to a dove” explains how all of the hate that he has experienced and gone through has turned his feelings around, and decided to look on the bright side of things. Personally I think this is a great
As he continuously describes the events that have taken place verse after verse the years progress further until the year 1964 when he describes more common events instead of many smaller ones to the year 1989. By listing these events in single sentences he separates the events into the times they occurred. Putting the ideas together and in one large sentence makes it feel as though there were constant events happening and the world was packed full with crazy events and stuff was constantly being thrown at people just like the lyrics in the song. As the song progresses, he approaches the events with much more ferocity and seems to gather more and more anger towards the events happening. He is getting annoyed at an accusation that that group started a certain fire.
Let It Be” by the Beatles has many references to along with a huge faith based theme. The reason this song was such a good choice for this assignment is due to how Paul McCartney uses his relationship with his mother and plays on the relationship Mother Mary, our saint, has with us. Throughout scripture we see a theme of God and saints helping people in their times of trouble. This song uses that idea and also brings a personal hidden connection with the singers life and relates them to these ideas in faith. This song can really help someone look deep and think about themselves and others in need. The part that brings it all together is the connection felt with the song writer when the deeper meanings are revealed.
Songs are like poems, having literary devices, expressing personal feeling, telling stories, the inspiration could base on real life. Also, songs could achieve experiences as films do, when people are listening to them. “Help” is one of the famous Beatles’ songs in 1965. It is a song which expresses the feeling and situation of the songwriter, John Lennon, during the time of the early Beatles.
