Life always finds a way to water things down. Whether it be religion, news, or education, we always get the tail end of what is truly going on. So when you find something that is real or someone who is real, it is a rare and splendid occasion. We can finally receive a true, nitty gritty struggle of real life. Just as when Slim Shady came into the so called “rap game”, he wrote songs about how his life was. He held nothing back telling us how it was, is, and will be. He was greeted with displeasure, and many tried to push away his truth. This is what I constantly look for in reading. I look for an honest, raw form of writing that will always bring forth a problem in society's eyes. Any way that it can bring forth a question of, “why?”, or “what is wrong with them?”, that's what I like to see. I only legitimately found such a view or reaction …show more content…
It's no surprise that this is at the top of my list of writings that are controversial. I mean, in all honesty this is probably one of the most controversial pieces we've read all year. Actually, no, it is the most controversial piece we’ve all year. In this poem, the guy kills his girlfriend with her own hair. It’s a pretty messed up topic. That is the main reason I chose this poem - because Robert Browning held no bars. He wrote with intent and purpose. This type of writing was frowned upon because no one ever had seen anything like it before. This kind of writing was almost unheard of. Browning put this risky topic into the eyes of the public, the eyes of everyone who will judge him. It’s not only what he wrote about, it's the fact that he is so gutsy in his delivery. He's not here to impress anyone, he simply writes the stories that he wants to. Essentially, he is ye old Slim Shady, not giving a diddly darn about whatever the corporations want, but instead only what he wants as an artist. Spreading his “genius” to the massive population of his

In the text it says research has found that people who multitask are actually less efficient than those who focus on one thing at a time. This was not the case for Jay-Z.
The book I chose to read is Tupac Shakur:The Life & Times of an American Icon. This book hasn’t been out for very long. It’s publication date was January 26, 2010 so it is a somewhat newer book. Fred and Tayannah examined very closely and did a great deal of research to write this book. They had to examine all the theories and myths about Tupac Shakur. So i’m guessing you can imagine how hard they worked to write & publish this biography.

ne day at the end of “winter”. A boy named Meek Mill decided to wear shorts, but he noticed it was super cold outside then he said, “Isn’t it suppose to be springtime already?!”
Marisha Pessel once wrote, “Within every elaborate lie, there is a kernel of truth”. Fallacies in literature are vital to a functional society. In a sense, all writing is fiction as many writers aim to tell a great story. What truly makes the story great is that by altering facts, an escaping story can be told. In addition, no-one’s memories are perfect and have the capability to reproduce pure facts. Even though an author may have an important life lesson to tell; in order to better portray the message, details have to be enhanced. Everybody reads with a purpose. Although the story may not be factually true, if the writing emotionally connects with oneself, the author has done their job for society. This just goes to show that in order to
Women were to be seen, but not heard. Women were expected to become wives and use their wombs to create a family. Women were expected to obey their husbands and do as they were told. A women’s role in Victorian society was to raise the children and make sure the household was kept clean. Women were obligated to fulfill these societal values because they lived in a world where the men dominated the social hierarchy, and women were not free to express nor be themselves. In the poem, “Mariana”, written by Alfred Lord Tennyson, a woman named Mariana is waiting all night for a man to come proclaim his love for her. Mariana desperately needs this man to come to her rescue, so she can fulfill her purpose in
While much of the Victorian Era centers around the rigid constructs of society, some authors and artists pull away from the strict rules and realism. Claude Monet, the French painter was a major contributor to the Impressionist Movement and his 1873 Impression, Sunrise is an oil painting on canvas that depicts a gloomy dawn over a harbor in the new style. The British poet, Robert Browning is known for his dramatic monologues, one of which is “Porphyria’s Lover”, written in 1834. The poetic style allows for the character to speak straight to the audience. Both forms of art deviate from traditional Victorian values, capturing feelings and personality, rather than morality and truth. In the painting, Impression,
I guest then I am not going to be to psyched about reading on that topic or article. So overall, I'd can have said that reading is important to me and is a fun aspect of school going to school a learn I can said that for me because of the sense of accomplishment I feel when I finish a reading article like Girl by Jamaica Kincaid. so, to me reading is probably one of the most beneficial and important feasible activities that a human can do. Upon first glance, it would seem that the narrator in Robert Browning’s “Porphyria’s Lover” is a male, when, in fact, that is not the case. Only by closely reading and analyzing the text and context clues would a reader come to the conclusion that the narrator is actually a female. It is astounding how many pivotal details of a story one can miss out on by not reading closely. Close reading is a style of reading something in order to analyze it and understand it better. This style of reading greatly differs from skim reading, which is a style of reading in which the reader’s eyes run across the page quickly in order to read only the most important parts. There are different instances in which a close reading would be more appropriate than a
Browning touches on the idea of repressed female sexuality many times throughout the poem. This leads the reader to consider the relationship between art and morality. Browning puts forth this question: how can society condemn admiring the female body as beautiful to be immoral while never questioning the honor and virtue in the
People are faced with reading informational, nonfiction texts every single day of their lives. It does not matter whether a person is young college student or a veteran of war, both must be able to
As far back as I can remember, reading has always been a huge part of my life. Growing up, my mom introduced reading as one of the most important skills I could learn. Throughout my childhood, my entire family constantly incorporated reading into my daily schedule by helping me complete word searches, reading books, or rehearsing the ABC’s. Every night before bed, my mom and I would read a page out of a children’s bible book called Blessings Every Day as opposed to the classic Green Eggs and Ham. Reading has taught me how to use my imagination, how to effectively communicate with others, and relieves my stress. I always feel remarkably at peace while reading a book. Vera Nazarian, an Armenian-Russian American writer, artist, and publisher of Norilana Books, describes how it feels to read, “Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light” (Vera Nazarian).
One of my favorite books to read is the Bible. Now honestly speaking, it can be hard to understand sometimes. And there are some things there that don't sound nice, but I feel that rather good or bad it will help me in the long run. That is also how your writing should affect others. Rather it is a piece that is like or love, does it help those that are reading it.
I am passionate about reading because of its ability to spark imagination when reading about the setting and characters of a story. A literary outlet of sorts, reading has allowed me to see people’s point of views of today’s world and experience multiple cultures and religions, and escape from the bustle of everyday life. Because I have read stories set in different timelines and even worlds distinct from our own, I have learned to understand others’ reasoning on diverse topics, which has helped me better perceive situations or problems I may encounter and develop an individual view of the world.
