Attending a NY Philharmonic Orchestra is similar to analyzing a company that makes music. Each person in the orchestra is a crucial part of its whole entity. The conductor plays a huge part as a leader and all the musicians create a sense of unity by being able to work together to put on an amazing show. Leadership from the conductor guides the musicians, while each team member brings their own specialty to the table to be molded into a successful philharmonic orchestra. Leaders tend to be people who can motivate others to work together for better results. They tend to have 4 different kinds of intelligence: emotional intelligence, social intelligence, cultural intelligence, and technical intelligence. Emotional intelligence is the
According to Wikieducator a leader posses the following characteristics: knowledge and know how, tact, good sense of humor, efficient, and trust worthy. Neither one state a leaders is defined by height. Ms. Khali delineates leadership within TICI as someone who has the skills to be ambition, self-confidence, and intelligent. She maintains that theses skills of a leader cannot be learned, but the individuals are born with them. However, based on the strong belief of Mr. Clarke, a person can learn the skills to become a leader. According to the article on Emotional Intelligence by Von Johnson (2005), a
In this world, there are many types of people and personalities. The personality trait in question is a leadership. From group leaders to CEOs to presidents, leaders are around us. However, what makes one a leader? Well, a leader needs to possess the characteristics of cooperation, problem solving, integrity, confident, and the list goes on. A leader also needs to live up to any mistakes and learn from them instead of pushing it off or blaming someone else. A leader needs to not take bias, but instead be fair and look at the big picture. I have many of these traits in leadership.
For an example in the book “Lord of the Flies” the boys need a remembrance of home, need faith and a spirit of heroism to motivate and look up to. Bravery plays a big part in taking control and leading a group of people. A leader needs to have bravery so that his or her people don’t live in fear under their influence. Bravery and courageousness is great and a key part, but intelligence is more significant and plays a bigger part in leader others. An efficient leader will need intelligence if they want to do what’s best for its people and know how to handle situations rational.
Leaders are individuals who carry a characteristic persona in them, they have a set of beliefs and paved pathway towards their destined success. Leadership qualities and traits differ with every Leader which is dependent on various factors. Analysing their Leadership qualities and traits gives us a coherent data about their manner of Leadership.
A leader 's characteristics can identified as how the leader can direct, motivate, guide and manage groups of people. Leaders can inspire for change and transformation. This may motivate others to achieve, establish and initiate. How each person leads, there are vast differences. Fortunately there are multiple of frameworks that better identify and understand these distinctive leadership styles.
On April 28, 2017, I attended the School of Music’s Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The program last about two hours and had a ten minute intermission. This non ticketed event was held at Morgan Hall in the Bailey Performing Arts Center on Kennesaw State University’s Kennesaw campus. The program consisted of three unique musical pieces performed by the renowned Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
"Leaders are people who are able to express themselves fully they know who they are, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and how to fully deploy their strengths and compensate for their weaknesses. They also know what they want, why they want it, and how to communicate what they want to others in order to gain their cooperation and support. Finally they know how to achieve their goals" (Ingram, 2004).
From Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela’s charisma, to Winston Churchill and Martin Luther King’s intelligence and Steve Jobs’ analytical nature, there can be as numerous ways to lead as there are leaders (Crossman, 2010). Leadership is a hot debate both in the business world and other areas of the society. Throughout the world's, there have been as many leadership models as there have been their commentators (Burns & Peltason, 1966). Fortunately, psychologists and businesspersons have established useful frameworks that refer to the main ways of leadership.
According to Sullivan and Decker (2009), leadership is influencing others into working toward accomplishing a common goal. Some people are born with an innate leadership quality within them. Others require learning leadership and management skills. It takes a certain personality trait that makes them a natural leader. Intelligence, personality, and abilities are three categories of the trait theory that is a part of the profile of successful leaders (Sullivan & Decker, 2009). I will discuss my personal views of leadership. It will
To be a leader, one must have certain traits that contribute, in a good way, to their leadership. An example could be persistence. What is a leader without persistence, what would be the point of them doing anything at all? Bravery is another valuable trait to have. In order to be a leader, you must be brave enough to stand for what you believe in and what you want to change, even when the outcome may seem bleak. One more essential trait: motivation. A leader simply cannot be a leader if no one is motivated to follow them. An example of a leader who exhibits all three of these characteristics in a great way would be Martin Luther King Jr. He was an African-American man who lived in a segregated time and place. Quickly, King became a leader
Leadership is an action not a position. With the proper personality, a leader can accomplish many things like knowledge of the organization. Being able to handle all type of situations shows great leadership traits. According to (Hughes, Ginnett, and Curphy) the adjustment dimension of the Five Factor Model of Personality “is concerned with how people react to stress, failure, or personal criticism” and it is important for leaders to develop their response to this dimension. Leader trait research examined the physical, mental, and social characteristics of individuals. In general, these studies simply looked for significant associations between individual traits and measures of leadership effectiveness. Physical traits such as height, mental traits such as intelligence, and social traits such as personality attributes were all subjects of empirical research. (LEADERSHIP THEORIES AND STUDIES)
Overall, Emotional Intelligence and resonant leadership are very important concepts in the marketplace today. They are vital to the dynamics of an organization and are qualities that the modern leader must possess in order to foster change and inspire others towards the achievement of goals and objectives. It is through these two concepts that a leader is truly able to elicit team unity and foster an atmosphere of change within the organization.
A leader is more than just running a group; it is some one who impacts at least one other person’s life in a positive way. A leader is someone who can guide others into accomplishing some success and goals. Furthermore, empower others is essential in the ability to maintain positive leadership. A leader is caring, must be willing to adapt and share the values of others, while still preserving their own personal values and beliefs. One aspect of being a good leader is having strong self-awareness- described as knowing your own strengths and weaknesses. Emotional intelligence, another aspect of being a respectable leader, is knowing your inner emotional state and remaining in control of it. Emotional
Emotional intelligence is an important characteristic in becoming a good leader. “Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage oneself and one's relationships in mature and constructive ways” (Kinicki & Kreitner, 2009, p.137).Being a good leader entails more than just being smart; leaders need to be able to connect to their employees emotionally and empathetically. Organizations today not only look for leaders with the skills, but leaders that can emotionally connect to employees to obtain the organization’s goal. “Leaders have always played a primordial emotional role. No doubt humankind’s original leaders-whether tribal chieftains or shamanesses-earned their place in large part because their leadership was
