Black Hawk Down has many lessons that other narratives cannot replicate. The Morongo Unified School District is located in the High Desert, near a military base in 29 Palms. Due to this, many military adolescent in the surrounding area are currently enrolled in MUSD schools. Black Hawk Down is a novel about the military, so the lessons enclosed within the book teach not only military students valuable lessons, but everyone in MUSD. It is important that MUSD approves Black Hawk Down, as it teaches students academic, social, and nationalistic values that are unmatched by other stories due to its rich, enticing story. The social skills gained from Black Hawk Down help students greater understand each other, which in turn will induce a content and a more tranquil community of the High Desert. Black Hawk Down can help students comprehend the repercussions of not thinking before taking action. For instance, after the failure of the raid in Mogadishu, not only were the Somalis infuriated at the Americans, but even the Americans realized the miscalculation they made. Former President Bill Clinton pondered the question of “ Why did they launch the raid?”(Black Hawk Down Book Review).
