According to this theory, goals need to be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time bound. In this particular case study by Elizabeth Layman, the goal shows SMART features. It is specific because it establishes that managers and directors should adopt organizational, work, and job redesign in the HIS departments. Once in place, it is measurable because this is an action-oriented study that offers a broad view of the necessary steps that management needs to take to redesign jobs. It is attainable because after management further analyses each sector, they are able to determine the appropriate changes that need to happen to render each sector successful. It is relevant because it improves the current hard, soft and context variables that are affecting them. This goal is not time bound since the case study does not offer a specific date for its completion. Principles of job enrichment applied in this case Job enrichment is a variation of job enlargement. Job enlargement aims to increase the responsibilities of the subject to avoid boredom and monotony. Job enrichment also increases the responsibilities of the subject, but in a different manner.
