Analysis Of Erik Erickson's Stages Of Psychosocial Development

Decent Essays
Children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade are in a developmental period of high growth. In theorist Erik Erikson’s stages of psychosocial development, the stage of development for K-3rd graders is mainly comprised of individual experiences and social interactions that can determine feelings of initiative and adequacy later on in life. While social experiences were previously experienced through family relationships at home, they are now more focused on developing the non-familial relationships they have with those in the school context. These relationships provide the foundation of social-emotional experiences that children will use as they move through life and continue to develop. Children also seek to experience feelings of competence.
