The aim of this paper is to examine the various aspects of the crime genre in film and television and to illustrate that the artificial image of the ‘Hollywood art thief’ detracts from the understanding of and attitude towards the serious threat that art theft and illegal trafficking pose to the global community. This analysis has been done using research on art cases, crime theory and through the exploration of film and television having to do with crimes involving art.

We like every other person in this world, when we hear the word crime; we automatically get an image of a person from a low class in a bad neighborhood and coming from a troubled family. However, who knew that those who are educated and coming from a wealthy family can also pertain to the world of crime and mischief. We as human beings tend to also be judgmental, assuming that only unprivileged men have a drive to commit an offense against the law then a prosperous individual. Nevertheless, it is not our evil doing that we are regularly pushed to foresee this problem this way, especially not when it is the media, the government, and the media are the ones who painting this picture for us.
Our images of crime can be found upon the media, this includes: Television, News Publications and Novels in which we read. It is known that news editors and journalists make the decision of whether or not a story is fit for publishing, they determine this by looking at certain values including: the risk, violence level, immediacy, unexpectedness and the amount of drama/action.
In Evil Under the Sun, Agatha Christie explores several different facets of good and of evil. Murder is presented as the ultimate evil: taking the life of a human being is an act that cannot be reversed. The act of murder is made especially grim when it is committed in cold blood. However, there are also other layers of what can be called "evil" from an ethical framework. Each of these layers pertain to the machinations of the human mind when it seeks to do something counter to ethics or moral righteousness. For example, the two murderers weave a web of deceit and lies. Each of the lies is designed to steer the detective away from the truth about the murder, therefore revealing the way evil compounds itself.
This paper will present a compare and contrast of the short story, "Witness for the Prosecution" to the screenplay of the same name written by Agatha Christie. The focus of the similarities and differences will be, a review of the characters and the story.
Agatha Christie uses the technique of foreshadowing to help the reader make predictions. When Mr. Blore exits the train in Oakbridge Station, he is greeted by an old man who gives him a message that a squall is coming. “He’s nearer the day of judgement than I am! But there, as it happens, he was wrong…”(Christie 17). This quote helps the reader make a prediction that death could possibly be in the near future. I learned that while reading books, mystery novels in particular, making predictions is necessary to form a connection to the text.

Ten people are brave enough to venture out to an island, invited by a unknown host that is nowhere to be found. The guests have nothing in common except a wicked past. Their fate is sealed by a murder that kills each of the guests off one by one, and only the dead are above suspicion. Morals are principles which help people to behave rightly. Also, they need to protect the rules. However, in Agatha Christie’s novel, Murder on the Orient Express, the characters act dishonestly: twelve passengers on the Orient Express murder Cassetti, they lie to the Belgian private detective, Hercule Poirot and the protagonist overlooks the passengers. Agatha Christie wrote these intensions fairly. From Murder on the Orient Express, the readers can learn that some set of morals are endorsed.
Subtitling movies is not an easy job as it does not depend only on translating the movie script, but also the translator needs to watch scenes in order to choose the suitable words and expressions that match the character of the speaker and this is the case with the movie “J. Edgar”. It is a long movie_ its length is about 2 hours and fifteen minutes. This length plays an important role in the movie because it makes the events slower which reflects the life of people during 1920s.
